Will George W. Bush be impeached?
A few months ago I would have not believed it. But now, I can see a couple of different scenerios which end with the impeachment of the Retard in Chief.

My prediction:

If the Democrats win Congress in 2006 (House at least), and if Bush's numbers remain where they are - he will be impeached.

What are your opinions?

Issues, that I believe are linked, and may help us to push forward impeachment of Bush on the issue of lying about Iraq:

1) His actual statements and the statements of those closest to him. Public statements in the lead up to war, as well as the internal fight between Cheney's neo-cons and Powell's state department. Remember that as early as Feb. 2001, Powell was forced to publicly state that Iraq did not have WMDs and a war was unnecessary.

2) The Cheney Energy Commission of 2001. Did Cheney promise these people Iraqi oil fields? If so, how did he know that a war was imminent? This commission gathered months before September 11.

3) The payola scandal (not much of one yet, I admit) involving journalists. If journalists were being paid to promote Bush during his reelection, is it hard to conceive that some (or many) were being paid to promote Bush's lies on Iraq?

4) This whole CIA leak thing. This shows an administration willing to bend the rules when it comes to those who took a different position than they did during and before the war.

5) The Niger story. Where did it come from? Who wrote the memo? How did it get into the media? etc.

6) The Downing Street Memos.

These are just some ideas off the top of my head. A serious non-partisan investigation should be launched into these issues. Once we take Congress we impeach the bastard.

2. Without a fucking doubt. The Republicans will be running from
the Chimp and his failed policies so fast in 2006 that it will be a race to impeach him.

4. We'll see after the '06 Senate elections.
...I know it's the Congress that initiates an impeachment, but a Democratic senate will push Buxh further into lame duck status and create an investigative atmosphere.

Forcing the congress to take appropriate action.

6. Yes. And the charge will be led by Republicans....
who will have realized (too late) that Bush is taking them down with him.

Bush's approval rate in free fall is very serious. Any Republican who is still
able to think beyond the Neocon fantasy claims that this country has
taken a permanant shift to the extreme right is very unhappy with Bush
right now.

9. I think you may be right. He lost a war against a disarmed foe.
They've got to unload him and pretend he led them astray.

8. Not unless we stop having rigged elections.
How exactly are Dems going to take back the Senate/House the way things stand?

11. By critically overseeing elections through Sec. of State and Dem Admins
If that's done successfully, the blue state's will stay blue and the serious dems in states with red admins will put up tough fights. I think we will seriously take advantage of our SEc of State seats in 06 and 08 to assure fair elections.

10. The best scenario
and attainable is as follows:

Nov 2006: Democrats take the house, and reduce republican majority in the senate. New congress comes to power January 2, 2007. Starts hearings on the Iraq war. This drags on for 18 months driving republican poll numbers down.

November 2008: Democrats take the senate, the house AND the presidency. Now congress is sworn in January 2, 2009.

Jaunuary 3rd, 2009: Bush and Cheney are impeached by the house. The trial in the Senate is fast-tracked and starts January 5.

January 18th, 2009: Senate convicts Bush and Cheney and they are removed from office. Nancy Pelosi (speaker of the house) becomes president for 2 days.

January 20, 2009, the democratic president-elect is sworn in.

12. Remember that the Senate sits as jury - the House impeaches
We don't need the Senate. We only need a majority in the House. I think there will be a trial in the fall of 2007. I don't think Bush gets removed from office. But we will have a trial where all the lies are finally exposed.

13. Yes ... but
Why be satisfied with just an impeachment when the chimp can go down in history as the only president who was removed from office?

If it is planned correctly, the events would move so fast between January 1 and Jaunuary 18 of 2009 that the chimp may not even have time to resign !!

18. As much as I think he deserves to be impeached,
I can't see the pubs doing it. They would be out of office for the next 20 years.

However, maybe if we win back one or both houses the dems might do it. I know it's hard to believe since they have been sooo spineless. But they are starting to come around. Maybe if we get just the house, we could pull what they did to Clinton, and just impeach him in the house. That would be a great compromise!!!

I heard, Shumer say that they got a really good response to their use of Rule 21. Maybe they are starting to wake up!!

Time will tell......
