9. Come on now I'm sure he's praying for them
"I call on all nations to pray for the states that were "hurricained" I call on all citizens to pray for those suffering from "hurricanization"

Now watch this drive."

5. Just spoke to a friend in So Fl this morning
life down there totally sucks at the moment. Everything has been trashed. A lot of people don't have electric still. Cold showers and warm beer gets old quick.

11. Hell, Floridians were still trying to recover from '04
hurricanes. After the initial photo ops, I understand FEMA was suspiciously and noticeably absent.

16. You mean after the election was over?
I guess the moral of the story is not to get hit by a hurricane in an off year, because BushCo certainly won't give a shit.

14. Visit to Lott's porch postponed!
Coastal Mississippians continue living in tents. Bush's promise to sit with Sen. Lott on the porch once the beachfront home is rebuilt has presumably been retracted since Lott had the audacity to suggest Rove perhaps should not serve Bush both in a policy and political role.

17. Hey, bsp from ms, welcome to DU! How did you
fare in Katrina?
The tent situation with winter coming is horrific. What can I say? This admin is totally inept; they need to be replaced and FEMA needs a total reorganization, starting by removal from Dept. of Homeland Security.

15. "La. Lawmakers Hold Session on Storm Relief"
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana lawmakers have just over two weeks to chart their hurricane-ravaged state's future, from rewriting building codes to weighing tax breaks to changing how employment benefits are calculated, and then answering the big question: how to pay for it all.

Gov. Kathleen Blanco called the special session starting Sunday for the Legislature to address 77 hurricane-related issues. It has to end by Nov. 22, two days before Thanksgiving.

"Frankly, I think it's too much to do in 16 days, but we'll do our best," Democratic Sen. Butch Gautreaux said.

Looming over the session is the already $971 million hole in the state's $18.7 billion budget for the 2005-06 fiscal year that run through June 30.

18. Florida: Some are staying in gymnasiums, some...
are just having their homes or apartments condemned and being sent out into the world with no shelter. FEMA says they're bringing in some trailers, but FEMA requires everyone to have enough money to go live in a hotel and pay for everything for weeks or until they can bring some little help, if any. I wouldn't count on FEMA for anything, least of all federal emergency help.

19. Living in Missouri now
My kids are still in Mississippi. My daughter is staying with her wicked stepmother who charges her $500 for her and my grandson to stay in a room at their house.

Nothing like taking care of family in a disaster zone. This is after hagwoman put the house we were living in up for sale.

There is minimal apartment rentals. My girl says one will pop up and she'll call and it will be already rented.

I recently got another FEMA deposit in my bank account. Was very surprising.
