Subject: Bush travels to Argentina with an entourage of 2000

This article describes Bush's security detail during summit in Mar del Plata, Argentina as comprised by 2000 men. Plus four AWAC planes, helicopters and U.S. ships have been deployed....Last week saw the arrival of three planes with arms to protect Bush and with food for the delegation.

Can you imagine how much it all costs?

3. And just why does he need all that protection? Is it possibly because
he's such a globally-despised piece of SHIT??
Our tax dollars at work...we don't have enough to support anything but total war, multi-billion-dollar corporations, tax breaks for the wealthy, and protection for those who don't deserve it.
What a country.

7. He is full of himself, methinks
4 AWACS? Is he afraid that Venezuela might plan a long-range bombing mission as a pre-emptive attack? Gimme a break. He thinks he's more important than he really is. Argentina has some of the best beef in the World and they bring in food?

Those people are in la-la land.

8. Babelfish is your friend
from the article.

Among other civil employees, the Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, the secretary of Hemisféricos Subjects, Tom Shannon, and the Advisor of the National Security, Stephen Hadley arrived together at Bush.

..cut..

The operative one of security around Bush will be imposing: it will have a retinue of two thousand men. In addition four radar reconnaissance airplanes Awacs, helicopters and ships of the U.S.A. will collaborate with operative of security organized by the Argentine Air Force for the Summit. The last week, three airplanes arrived at the country with arms to guard to the president of the U.S.A. and foods for the delegation.

9. He's conserving. That's what conservatives do. I thought when
he went to England he took 700 with him, and parked the SUVs in the rose garden. That was the time they took away all the mailboxes, welded the manhole covers shut and told everybody not to gaze upon him, right?

13. Don't want to sound like I'm defending Bush, but that number is flat wrong
The entourage, including security, staff, press, etc. isn't anything close to 2000.

All presidents have very large entourages when they travel overseas. Bush's entourage and security detail are slightly larger than Clinton's were, but not that much larger.

We can't believe everything we read about Bush, even when it's negative. :-)

16. 3000 White House Employees..
I can't remember which report, but yesterday it was mentioned that the white house (in this administration) - has 3000 employees.

I'm sorry I do not recall the source at the moment, but that number is astonishing to me in and of itself.

I think it would be an interesting study to research past and present white house employee stats.

In another report it was mentioned that Dick Cheney has over 300 staff with his "office".

The company i recently worked for has under 250 employees on site, occupying three modest sized buildings.

Wonder how much of the White House' physical space Cheney's "office" occupies?
