Libby indictment pales against bigger Iraq lies
http://www.pal-item.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051105/NEWS03/511050335/1003

After spending two years of intensive investigation, at a cost of close to $1 million, a federal prosecutor has secured the indictment of a high Bush administration official. Vice President Dick Cheney's chief assistant, I. (Scooter) Libby, is charged with perjury, lying to the FBI and to the grand jury and "obstruction of justice".

The real trouble started when some speech writer -- it's not clear who -- put into the president's State of the Union address 16 fateful words repeating as fact the already repudiated rumor about Iraq's supposed purchase of uranium. (The White House officially declared that those 16 words should never have been used.) .

The real issue is why did the United States start a "pre-emptive" war with Iraq? How was it that our intelligence was so bad that we became convinced that Iraq had stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction, when they had none?

If we want to be serious about dealing with the real issues, we should drop these criminal proceedings, give everybody involved a guarantee of immunity and undertake a thorough, comprehensive, bipartisan congressional investigation, for as long as it might take, to get the full, complete, honest story about how and why we got into this dreadful, unnecessary war of our own choosing.

1. Who profits.... has profitted, is continuing to profit. Follow the $$.
We started a preemptive war because we could... because someone else
was getting too big a chunk of the oil contracts with Iraq and developing too much influence in the ME. Now we have fixed all that and are on our way to becoming the most hated nation on earth. Cheers.

3. Don't you find it interesting that we have been spending over 400
billion dollars a year on "defense" when we have not been involved in any "real wars" for the past several decades?? Is Amurka.... "addicted to war"?

4. Why yes, yes it does
But since Mr. Libby is the thread that's been pulled, why don't we see what unravels from this one first. I have a feeling that there connections and interconnections shot through this corrupt administration that will lead us to any number of problems, apparent and not so apparent.

The wheels of justice may grind slowly, but they will grind these evil bastards into a fine dust to sprinkle over the ash heap of history.
