Cindy Sheehan
This is to let everyone on here know that Cindy is not in Argentina.
She is in La,has been there the last 3 days and will be in San Diego monday for a rally.
I hope this puts an end to these rumors as when I talked to Cindy last
night and teased her about being in Argentina she said thats strange ,I just read I was in DC.
If any one has any knowledge that she has been cloned ,please notify her

1. How did this rumor get started? I can't imagine why Cindy...
Sheehan would be in Argentina. Her cause is ending the war, not CAFTA.

5. Do you suppose the right wingers or some such group started...
this rumor even though it doesn't make sense. The TV news and print media don't even bother to check it out. That's how useless they are.

15. Washington Post is reporting Sheehan expected to be there:
Bush, Chavez or Refrigerators?
By Marcela Sanchez
Special to washingtonpost.com
Friday, November 4, 2005; 12:00 AM

... Cindy Sheehan will join him, demonstrating against the war in Iraq that took the life of her son. She is scheduled to speak at an anti-summit gathering known as the People's Summit. Sheehan will be followed at the podium by none other than Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez ... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/03/AR2005110301397.html

And here's USAT, cleverly putting Cindy beside Molotov cocktails:

Far from home, Bush can't escape political headaches
By Richard Benedetto, USA TODAY

... Among the protesters was another Bush nemesis, Cindy Sheehan, the Vacaville, Calif., mother whose son Casey was killed in Iraq last year. Sheehan led anti-war protests outside Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch in August and has continued to call for immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.

Later in the day, the protests turned violent as demonstrators lit bonfires and threw Molotov cocktails ...

17. I'm just pointing out that the Argentina claim is spread widely across ..
.. the media. The stories I've seen are interesting for: claiming that Cindy is expected to appear, or for saying Cindy spoke at a rally there (without providing anything like a quote), and for the juxtaposition of Cindy's name with Molotov or (current bogeyman to the wingnuts) Chavez.

I'd love to complain to an editor at this sort of reporting, but citing "az at du" doesn't quite give me the umpahpah, no matter how inclined I am personally to believe him. So I hoped that my post might motivate somebody who knew the scoop, and could prove they knew the scoop, to contact the papers and chew them out -- or, failing that, perhaps that it would get a usable link in response ...

Cheers!

:)

19. AOL reported she was in Argentina yesterday on their homepage
Sorry. I posted a link then. I guess AOL is not a trustworthy news source.

The article is no longer there, but here's a snip of what they reported:

Argentina Braces for Anti-Bush Protests at Summit
Anti-War Activist Cindy Sheehan Expected at Demonstrations

MAR DEL PLATA, Argentina (Nov. 4) - President Bush, greeted Friday by thousands of anti-American protesters, is making his call for liberalized trade and increased entrepreneurship in Argentina, a country that adopted such reforms in the 1990s and saw its economy collapse.

<snip>

Bush and an outspoken critic, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, were likely to meet Friday, shortly after Chavez's speech to a demonstration of mostly anti-Bush protesters. Chavez has joked about whether Bush is afraid of him and said he might sneak up and scare Bush at the summit.

Chavez has said he would use the meeting as a stage to denounce the U.S. as a "capitalist, imperialist model" of democracy that exploits the economies of developing nations.

Bush's trip comes as he faces the lowest job approval ratings of his presidency back home.

U.S. anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan and other relatives of soldiers killed in Iraq are also expected in town.
<snip>

14. I heard it on Dan Abrahm's show, he had to lose his lineup and cover
the riots in Mar de Plata. The reporter DOWN THERE was the one who said she was there. When asked what she said, the guy said he didn't SEE her, just "heard" that she was there. Think he was WAPO, but not sure.

9. Was she in SF yesterday?
I saw the local news covering the SF protests, and they interviewed Cindy, but it wasn't clear if there was editing or if she was actually there. Do you know?
