WSJ: Democrats Scramble to Recruit House candidates amid Bush's troubles
Democrats Scramble to Recruit
By JOHN HARWOOD
Staff Reporter of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
November 4, 2005; Page A4

DEMOCRATS SCRAMBLE to recruit House candidates amid Bush's troubles.

Minority party cheers decision by New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid to challenge vulnerable Republican Heather Wilson. Democrats land recruits to take on incumbents Pryce of Ohio, Lewis of Kentucky and Pombo of California. Another challenger: Former NFL quarterback Heath Shuler against North Carolina incumbent Taylor.

"We are going to destroy Heath Shuler," responds Carl Forti of House Republicans' campaign committee, noting that many Democratic recruits lack experience. Despite ties to CIA-leak case, Cheney raises more than $100,000 apiece at five events for House Republicans since late October.

In individual House races, Forti says, Bush "is a nonfactor."

3. This is great for us!
In recent years, we've taken a hit recruiting people to run, and perceptions are key when getting people to run.

I think we are going to retake the House next year, and it starts with running someone quality in every contested race.

4. Bush "is a nonfactor."...but how about bugboy DeLay and the BIG pix
Corruption, cronyism and conspiracy permeates the current Republican party from top to bottom. I believe that will impact 06 races from bottom to top.
