1. That woman is my senator and sometimes I would just
like to see her act like a democrat. I mean, just occassionally, would be nice.

After giving her funding and supporting her in her last election bid against a staunch anti-choice witch who loved Bush, she does these things...bankruptcy bill (Louisiana is poor as a church mouse), gang of 14,.....

I just want to scream at her

5. Senator Landrieu is in a very difficult situation
She constantly has to keep both sides happy with her, especially now. In 2002 she beat Suzanne Haik Terrell, who was a TERRIBLE candidate, but Landrieu beat her by 30,000-40,000 votes. She's on a knife-edge for 2008 now AND she knows it.

I'd hate to be in Landrieu's position, it must be a nightmare for her. We should cut her some slack mon amie, or at least attempt to :)

6. I think I can for a lot of thing, but not for this bill
Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 06:51 PM by Mass
If these 3 dems had voted NO, a bill that is a catastrophy for a lot of people including in LA would have been defeated.

I cannot understand why she would vote YES to this bill who does not include the basic amendments that were added for LA.

I imagine this is the reason why she voted YES, but still, this bill is harmful to the LA victims.

9. I was just about to comment
What I've noticed, is that every time Senator Landrieu votes with the Repukes on a close one like this bill, it's nearly always in return for some kind of pork or whatever that she's been wanting for Louisiana for some time.

There is a method to her madness...it's pretty sleazy I admit, but then again she is a Louisiana politician, it's expected.

Despite everything, Landrieu's 100% better than Terrell would have been or than Vitter is.

10. No question she is better than Vitter - .

I tend to like her despite her votes, because she does not hesitate to go on the floor and tell what she thinks. Just wished she would vote more often with the Democrats, but I guess it comes with the territory.

16. Senator Landrieu hates the GOP, she does
She hates them even more now after Katrina. I do understand your points though, the points that you're making.

23. This bill would have passed, even if these three had voted NO
The Republicans would have simply pulled three more Republicans back from NO to YES.

They purposely keep votes like this close - allowing some of their moderates to cast a safe vote if their votes aren't needed. That way, it looks like they pulled out a squeaker, which allows them to scare up more money from the donor base. The added bonus is that grassroots Dems always fall for it and, true to form, eat their own, blaming them for losing a vote that could never have been won anyway.

8. I'm not from her area, however, I've followed her voting record
and she does CONSTANTLY try to keep both sides happy. Her voting speaks volumes...

Peace.

12. She has the MOST complex voting record EVER probably
Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 07:06 PM by ...of J.Temperance
In the 2002 election, I and other people busted our backsides to get Landrieu re-elected, going door to door, street to street, you name it. And sure I do get pissed off with her now and then...but in the end I understand what she has to do in order to keep her seat, and I'd probably do pretty much the same thing if I were in her position.

Sure, it sucks, it's dirty, it's seedy, it's sleazy...but then THAT'S politics.

I won't throw Landrieu's seat away for a handful of her Senate votes...I refuse in 2008 to let Landrieu's Senate seat go to the Repuke pigs. I DON'T want to lose another seat.

Ditto Governor Blanco, she's 98% anti-abortion, but I want her BACK in 2007, I don't want a Repuke pig taking her job.

On Edit: Governor Blanco only supports abortion in the cases of incest, rape and where the life of the Mother is threatened.

13. You get no argument from me...the only comment I have is--
it's much more than a HANDFUL. After what happened to LA., you think she would do her damndest to preserve what little wildlife refuge we have left. That's all. The 3 votes/defected made the difference. A big difference.

Peace.

17. I understand
What you're saying. She's getting a fistful of dollars for the state because of Katrina...I don't know what goes on in her head when she's voting, but more often than not I trust her with her reasons. Also she helped to get Junior to reverse that Davis-Bacon Act the other way, or the Bacon-Davis Act or whatever it's called. And that was VERY important indeed that that was nipped in the bud, now workers can get paid minimum wage.

24. Those votes really didn't make a difference
If they had voted no, the Republican leadership would have flipped 3 of the moderate Republicans that they released to vote no on the condition that they change their vote to yes if needed to pass the bill.

It's an old Republican trick perfected by DeLay.

25. She sponsored an Amendment to the Bill to restore some of the
funding, especially for school lunches(?)and Food Stamps and it was voted down by a HUGE margin.

7. Good job Lincoln Chaffee
For supporting the democrats on MOST of there admendments, He was the only consistant one doing that today.

As for Landrieu, that's a shame but I think we can honestly say that she is a better Senator than Dave Vitter.

19. Ben Nelson should be ashamed of himself
The only reason why he's a democrat is so he can run for governor of Nebraska(the republicans already picked there man).

so basically he has the same voting record as popular republican senator Chuck Hagel.

so to wrap it up..Sen. Ben Nelson, republican by views and opinion, democrat by party afflication only.

20. Was Ben Nelson Governor prior to becoming a Senator?
Heck, Bob Kerrey wasn't perfect, but he was on par with Jesus Christ compared to Ben Nelson.

Nelson is the new Zell Miller and he's got the same voting record too, he's a disgrace and he needs to just get where he belongs in the Republic Party.
