Best Republican Strategy for Libby....
Wouldn't one think that the Rethuglicans would want Libby to get his trial over as quick as possible?

Personally, I don't think Bush will pardon Libby if he is convicted and wonder if Libby and his attorneys will demand a speedy trial. I can't see them wanting to drag this out (I think too many Republican insiders are too worried about the 06 elections).

Myself, I hope that it is dragged out for months and there is a huge fight over Cheney testifying and he tries to claim executive privilege.

1. He can't win. Do a deal and someone falls. Go to trial and discovery
and testimony will do them in.

2. Libby "suiciding" would probably be the preferred way for...
...the reThugs. He is (probably) too high profile a target though...

3. Begala said word he hears on the hill as he'll eventually plea out..
Begala was on the Situation Room a little while ago with a Rethug Strategist.

Begala said that rumor he hears, is that Scooter will eventually "take a bullet" for the administration with a guarantee from them of being pardoned when Bush exits office.

Wonder if the rumors he's hearing will pan out like that?

4. It makes sense.
He just lays down and says, "Judge throw the book at me." And then Bush pardons him 08. All done.

5. Yep, no trial. Cops a plea, gets a pardon. Big fat bank acct.
Not a bad gig all in all.
