Considering what's happened to the USA since Gingrich and Co. took over Congress in 1995, I'm beginning to think that studying the late Roman Republic has relevance after all.

It seems that all that is old is new again. BushCo is simply history's latest cabal of extremely powerful men with no morality or sense of duty beyond themselves, their caste and their greed. This oscillation of unrestrained greed and lust for power in the human story is hardly new. Even though BushCo. has better tools and bigger sticks than the ancients they will ultimately suffer the same demise.
