Bush kicked sand in the Democrats face with Alito
How will our side respond? How far will Lieberman bend over?
Will the Democrats roll over one more time for Bush?

We need to fight this nomination to the BITTER END. I mean open warfare in the Senate. Does our side have the courage of their convictions? It's the moment of truth.

1. Sorry...
Bush has checked and mated the Dem's with this move..

Bend over, and they lose support on the left.. fight it, and they re-invigorate the right and re-energize support for Bush as well as distract from the otherwise bad news for the White House.. So it's lose/lose.. The Democrats have lost big time on this one..

5. Democrats didn't cause Miers to withdraw

Remember: Democrats said very little about her either way; as a matter of fact, many Democratic senators were openly sympathetic. It was her old "self-determination" speech that sealed her fate with Dobson and Robertson.

4. What's funny is what would happen in Bizarro World
What would happen in Bizarro World where the Democrats controlled all three branches of government and the Democratic president, who has almost record low approval ratings, needs to appoint a new supreme court justice.

First he nominates a crony liberal from his own office, and everyone including the democratic leadership tears the choice a new one.

So then he nominates a freaking hippie liberal judge. Lots of years on the bench and the most liberal out there. Pro legalization of drugs, full choice with no restrictions, and on and on and on. A total extreme lefty.

what would the conservative republican minority do? Would they say "Hmm we don't want to fight this and reinvigorate his ratings"

NO they'd JUMP ALL OVER THE GUY. Hard. They'd use it to show american, AGAIN, just how extreme and liberal and wrong this president, and his choices are for america.

Our side needs to grow a pair and keep it. No retreat. This president is hurting america with everything he does, we can't give up any more ground.

7. We Wish...
Unfortuantly, our congressional Dems are more about appeasing the boy-prince than they are doing the right thing.. I don't think they have the scrot to stand up to the Republicans, and even if by some miracle they do.. the Repubs pull out the "nuke" option and it's a moot point..

9. You are exactly correct. The strategy should be:
Show all of America how extreme this judge is and how it will hurt America. Do not focus on gay rights or Roe v Wade.

8. Lieberman is a gas powered jerk
I'd expect all Democrats with honor to oppose Alito.
