Will Shrub have a nervous breakdown?
With or without Rove, with or without Cheney - will he hit the bottle again or have a nervous breakdown? Interestingly, Nixon became increasingly incoherent and irritiable, while Clinton became more resolved and defiant. In part perhaps because of the nature of the crimes - one truly impeachable, the other "simply" immoral and disgusting, one a betray of the country, the other a betrayal of his wife. But I don't see Shrub with the flexible strength of Nixon. He's stiff as a Reed (pun) and will break.

And what is or will be the role of his father or mother?

3. He's an untreated alcoholic. Therefore,
he's a walking nervous breakdown and has been for years. We're the ones who suffer for it.

4. But will it get to the point where it's obvious?
Wilson, FDR and JFK hid illnesses. Wilson's wife as a de facto president, and JFK was a profile in courage, considering how he functioned with a debilitating illness. Grant's drinking was well known. At some point, though, the media will pounce on a politician whose addictions or weaknesses show through.

Or maybe not. Look at the Oxy Moron.

6. I have to agree
with you, the real point is, if and when it will become noticable? Will it become impossible to deny his obvious impairment?

Think drunk driving is dangerous...

5. I think they'll just prop him up, like they've always done
My understanding is he's already back on the bottle, is taking meds for his emotional condition, and takes other meds to sleep. Who knows what he's taking. imho, he's already broken down, but is being tugged along, still in the drivers seat, acting like he's steering the wheel when really he's just playing with it, honking the horn, having a good time.

9. A strange analogy
It's rumored that in the first Kasparov-Karpov world championship match, Karpov was also on drugs. Kasparov kept the match going, over 80 games, so that Karpov's meds would tear up his body and he'd collapse. The match was stopped before that happened.

10. Bush is and always has been a figurehead
If Cheney and Rove depart, there are others to keep him propped up for the photo ops.

11. Why would he have a nervous breakdown? He has not been victimized!
He was creating myths and now he has to face the truth. There is no shock in that. He was in control to begin with. Wasn't as if he was set up. Sure he is a puppet but if he didn't know that after 20 years of being groomed and told what to say by handlers.. his problem is mental acuity.

He was the most powerful man in the world and got to make choices. He choose to be aggressive. He made his world.

12. When you walk around in a shroud of lies and your minions
start to get caught, chances are when you're an untreated alkie and can't stand imperfections, you will have a nervous breakdown.

18. I thought a nervous breakdown had to do with being beyond your
ability to cope. Someone who has been in politics most of his life and run many campaigns.. knows a thing or two about fighting hard. I would say that Bush is likely to act passive for a bit, then once his numbers have improved, come on heavy again with the "agenda".

Remember - the man doesn't care about people. Or the news.

13. Weekend at Bushies -
The docs will keep him walking and talking with a cocktail of drugs, synthetic hormones, and chewable human adrenal glands. I listened to Bush** make the SCOTUS announcement this morning. They guy literally cannot complete a sentence. Tardive Dyskenisia and Tardive Dementia..thats my guess.
