Rosa Parks motorcade/tribute live on CSpan now.
The bus where history was made, where that simple gesture of self-dignity sparked a movement toward human decency for all of us, is part of the motorcade. I wasn't expecting to see that.

I'm in tears. Rest in peace Rosa Parks.

1. I'm watching too
Seeing that bus was very moving.
Of course when I read that Condi did a tribute in Alabama I was far from amused. To think she said she wouldn't be where she is were it not for Rosa Parks. This from a woman who admitted that she was playing the piano and ice skating when people were fighting for their rights.

I expect to see all the hypocrites tonight starting with the one who didn't know her name.

4. Rosa Parks is ascending the steps of the Capitol with an honor guard.
The hypocrites have lost. they will defeat themselves at every turn.

They have no choice but to show their faces and pretend they haven't failed in the lesson that Rosa Parks taught us.

3. CNN the babbling punditocracy
Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 07:44 PM by malaise
who never know when to shut up. On CSpan I can hear them singing We Shall Overcome in the background.

You know Rosa Parks chose the perfect moment to die - her people needed to be reminded of the Civil Rghts Struggle following Katrina.

Edit - add sentence.

9. Switch to CSpan if you can.
It's more fitting to observe her service as it unfolds.

19. You're right. And CNN cut off, just as I was switching. Unfortunately...
however, I think many get CNN and not CSpan.

21. Yes...if one had to pick the "moment" to die...she had a good time to go..
After what went on in NO's her death is brought home to what we "tried to Achieve" to make America a better place.

And Rosa Parks and this tribute speaks to ALL OF US BLACK/WHITE/NATIVE AMERICAN/and EVERYONE who BELIEVED THAT "AMERICA COULD DO BETTER!"

It's so sad that we are living through this..with that Idiot-in-Thief and his Thugs in charge.

But...Bright Light Rosa Parks and the Memory is what leads most of us here on the Democratic Internet to keep plugging.

One DAY! WE SHALL OVERCOME..ONCE AGAIN. "POWER ...TO THE PEOPLE!"

11. It was shocking, wasn't it?
But it's a beautiful, historic moment. Even he can't ruin it.

i'm crying again.

The country had gone so far forward since Rosa's first stand, and now we've gone so far back in just a matter of months. All the sorrow I felt during Katrina is back with me now.

25. We often forget how far
we've all come. From the back of a bus to the Rotunda in 50 years.
But humanity still has a long way to go. Still that vibe of renewal appears to be growing again.

14. One small childs voice is echoing in the rotunda.
Just talking, and the mother has hushed the baby. That always seems to happen at a funeral, and I always love it when it does. It always brings a smile.
