I hate Ben Stein
Typical conservative...

he remarks on how the American worker is now moving from the Middle Class to the Working Class....how quaint...now put that in terms that make more sense.

All of them were Working Class...but now they are going to be unable to afford to pay their mortgages and save for their kid's college education...unless they sacrifice ...which Ben...will hurt the american economy...because if people really save like you are advocating...they won't be spending on the items that make our economy go round and round...without a strong middle class...there won't be anyone to sell items too...

He then ignores the fact that Corporate America has basically turned its back on Pension obligation and then goes on to say to the American Public...you should have started saving yesterday because you can't trust anyone....and then he advocates buying stock, bonds and annuities????? Oh please ...buy stock in the same companies that we can't trust to stand by agreements they signed? Buy their stock to give them more of our money to mismanage????

GRRRRRHHHH!!!!

5. he is a manipulative prick
I believe that to his credit he has found a niche where he can use his gift of spin to sucker money out of conservatives.

However when the people of this country have their blinders fall off...he will be one of the people who will either switch stories to keep his money stream coming in....or he will run away.

Deep down I don't believe Ben Stein has any ethics or any loyalty to anything...

2. I don't like his politics, but somehow I still love him :-)
I like his particular brand of comedy (the non-political part of it at least).

9. Me too.
I used to read his essays in the New Republic or whatever it was, and I cried at his essay on his dad dying. Best description ever of what it's like to lose someone you love to a wasting, horrible disease. I also like how he loves his dog so much he calls him Puppy-Wuppy and takes him everywhere.

He's a good human under all that brainwashing crap. I just hope that someday he'll see the disconnect.

ANY country, regardless of any bollocks restrictions because of trade negotiations or wars. It won't stop those with money from getting awya with breaking the law. We see that all the time with sports players and two-bit actors. $ = power. THAT is the reality.

In short, this is the ultimate betrayal of the American people by the corporate elite. And where the fuck are our elected officials to put those microcephalic apostates behind bars for life? Too busy setting up laws to put everybody else behind bars for life...

15. I agree that we have to worry for our retirement
and the notion of "pension obligation" by corporation is really meaningless. When corporates go out of business, as we have seen with the steel industry so will such obligations.

No, what irritated me about his comments was the complete disregard to the fact that most working Americans live from paycheck to paycheck and really cannot afford to put meaningful amount for retirement. Those who are lucky to have 401K can do it easier, especially with matching funds.

That if, instead of paying their CEOs 400 times the average salary, corporates could increase the wages of their workers so that they could put money away for retirement, even go shopping for their own health insurance.

Hey, perhaps more of us can become obnoxious commentators on network TV and make millions.
