"Uniquely American, isn't it?"
Feb. 04, 2005
Exchange with the pResidunce regarding SS.

<SNIP>

MS. MORNIN: I'm fine.

THE PRESIDENT: Good. Okay, Mary, tell us about yourself.

MS. MORNIN: Okay, I'm a divorced, single mother with three grown, adult children. I have one child, Robbie, who is mentally challenged, and I have two daughters.

THE PRESIDENT: Fantastic...

<SNIP>

THE PRESIDENT: Yes, but nevertheless, there's a certain comfort to know that the promises made will be kept by the government.

MS. MORNIN: Yes.

THE PRESIDENT: And so thank you for asking that. You don't have to worry.

MS. MORNIN: That's good, because I work three jobs and I feel like I contribute.

THE PRESIDENT: You work three jobs?

MS. MORNIN: Three jobs, yes.

THE PRESIDENT: Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that. (Applause.) Get any sleep? (Laughter.)

MS. MORNIN: Not much. Not much.

2. Oh for crying out loud...
"You work three jobs... that's fantastic that you're doing that??"

A single mother with a mentally challenged child working three jobs is fantastic? How was there not a collective gasp when he said that? Yes, Mr. pResident, in the outstanding economy you have created for us, this woman has to work 3 jobs to make ends meet. But above all else, she can sleep knowing that you will fix Social Security.... Oh... the Repug mentality......

6. I saw the clip on tv
I think that to the right she was a fine example of what poor people should be doing- working themselves to death. She should have smacked him for saying that.

Only in America.
