Bush heckled during terror speech
It's too sad that we have to get our news from outside the country. "Scottish news direct from Scotland" reported on a speech Bush gave in Norfolk.
"Inside, as the president spoke, a man on the second level interrupted him, yelling "War is terrorism. War is terrorism. Step down now Mr President. Torture is terrorism."

Bush continued speaking as the man left the hall.

Mindful of the public anxiety, the president attempted to underscore the danger the United States faces from terrorists, comparing leaders of al Qa-ida to Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin"

It's typical that Bush points his finger at Al Qa-ida and says they are fascists, that is the MO of the republicans. They try to deflect the truth about what they are by calling names. The republican elite are the fascists.

2. I heard it live on MSNBC. The protestor was removed by security.
We had several threads on this yesterday. Bush looked stunned by the heckler.

3. When they point at somebody else and call them what they
themselves really are, it's called PROJECTION. They are masters of it. It's their first line of defense, because then if somebody ELSE then calls them what they really are, it automatically looks petty and juvenile.

It was great that he got in and was able to do this. It was very hard to get in to this event. Tom is great and well spoken.

~~Some Dare Not to Call it Heckling~~

At any rate, I didn't know Bunnypants used potholes as a regular 'joke' in his speeches ...

and, what's his appreciating people about. He seems to use that a lot, too: "I appreciate Mayor Fraim."

Recycled joke sends Norfolk reeling over potholes

NORFOLK — The city was all aflutter Friday in the wake of President Bush’s speech at Chrysler Hall.

But it wasn’t his visit in particular or all the attendant hubbub and road closures and security cordons it generated. Rather, it was his seemingly offhand remark:

“Mayor, thanks for coming. I appreciate Mayor Fraim. He’s here from the city of Norfolk. … He didn’t ask for my advice, but I gave it anyway. I said, ' Fill the potholes.’”

Laughter and applause followed. Then, after the speech, pandemonium.

Local TV crews descended on Mayor Paul D. Fraim and rolled out to inspect the presidential route, smelling an outrage story. Meanwhile, we here at The Virginian-Pilot got online.

A close examination of dozens of the president’s speeches in the past four years revealed numerous mentions of the host city’s pockmarked streets.

Each time, Bush’s rhythm has gone something like this:

Thank the state congressional delegation, introduce the local mayor, thank the local mayor and – boom – out comes the pothole quip: “My only advice, Mr. Mayor, is make sure you fill the potholes.
