Let's all of us newbies make a vow.
I promise to never call anybody a troll or mole unless they run into a thread, yell"DEMOCRATS SUCK" and run back out again.

I promise I will never wonder aloud on a thread how a troll managed to get over 1000 posts in without being discovered.

I promise that if I can't believe that a fellow Democrat disagrees with me,I will not call them a republican in democrat clothing as I
am not the god/goddess of the Democratic party.

I promise I will always feel comfortable in my own democratic skin even when someone with less confidence in theirs questions my "credentials".

And finally,I promise to ignore the poster who yells "DEMOCRATS SUCK".

3. agreed
Dude, I stated my opinion on a thread that Mike Malloy is a poor radio host for AAR, and got instantly mugged, accused of being a "freeper pretending to give a shit," etc. etc.
Not that I'm really worried about it, as I can defend my positions quite well, but DUrs shouldn't be so lockstep.

7. If you posted such thoughts on a 'Truthseeker' thread you are lucky
to still have fingers to type with..and even a head to think with...I suggest you take your fights where they can at least be considered and not jump into a riot with both flsts flailaing...not a good posture! AND a newbie to boot!..

9. LOL
Yeah, it was a "Truthseeker" thread.
I don't mind a good brawl. Gets boring just signifying agreement all the time.
And when AAR replaced the "Non-filtered" segment with the hideous Jerry Springer - yuckkk. Koresh, he's awful to listen to.

17. Agreed..I love a good brawl..in fact that is why I have been BANNED
for life from AOL...I called a freeper dumb..imagine that...and that got me banned..and now I am searching for a chat room so I can ream freeper butt again...I read here for about 3-5 hours..then post on FTL on AOL for about 2..just dumping facts..of course freepers hate facts..that is why I was targeted for the ban..6 "reported" 'harassments' in 6 months gone for LIFE...until I get another AOL offer in the mail at least?

18. Can't imagine calling a freeper dumb
They're pretty thin-skinned, considering all the vitriol they've been spewing against their betters. Wasn't it reagan who said, "facts are stupid things"?

20. No, in fact Reagan said 'Facts are stubborn things'..like they wont go
away...I wrote a poem..and one verse is

Those who seek wisdom for wisdom's sake
have a difficult time I'll assure.
For truth is something that's hard to fake
and once out impossible to secure.

'facts are stubborn things' indeed!

21. Nice verse
But remember, it's always the victor who writes history.
An example of how facts can be changed: WH transcripts are being cleaned up to reflect what staff think * should have said, rather than the moronic sounding things he actually says.

26. I thought John Adams said "Facts are stubborn things"
During the trial when he defended the British soldiers accused in the Boston Massacre. I could be crazy, though.

4. I'm not a newbie,
been here since 2001, and I would never do that. If I think someone is a troll, I hit alert.

Don't get too upset with the paranoids here. They think anyone who doesn't agree with THEM ( or the DU orthodoxy ) must be a troll.

6. Another non-newbie saying: Move on from what you find here that seems
out of sinc with open-honest discussion. I've seen and heard it all and at times just been blown away by the narcissism of some of the posters here. Screw 'em. We are large! We contain multitudes. Don't waste your time with folks who don't get it. Be yourself. Welcome to DU.
The good news is, we ARE so big, we are containing all types! Not just one type. That says good things about the growing conviction of those who choose to vote for Democrats. We know that is the only choice we have and we are seeing a very broad sample of people. If we were all the same, no matter how much that would make ME happy, that would say we are a small part of the public. And we would know we cannot prevail with low numbers.

No apologies for the twits! Just take it as a good sign and follow the stuff that makes sense to you. Each of us has a voice, and those who are less generous of spirit? May they be affected by our voices in a positive way.

15. The admins have set apart all the Libby/CIA Leak posts. That's why this is
called GD:Everything else.
It's a great idea really. Whenever something big happens, the forums become saturated with endless threads on the same subject. Kudos to the admins for separating it out. It's a Patrick Fitzgerald LOVE FEST over there. I gotta go back before someone calls me on mentioning the subject too much in this forum! :hi:

16. We were all newbies once
just like you.

Sometimes, I still feel like a newbie, especially when I consider how much intelligence abounds throughout this forum. It's overwhelming sometimes, but in a good kind of way. Looking back, some of my most enjoyable times on DU were during my newbie days which wasn't all that many moons ago.

The only time a legitimate newbie is upsetting to me is when they come in and act like they own the place. It rarely happens, but it's disrespectful when it does. The only advice I have to offer to new members is that they should realize that it takes just a little time to earn the respect and trust of the veteran posters sometimes. 99.9% of the time, regulars will treat newbies with all the respect in the world. At the same token, we're also on our toes when someone new comes in and makes waves.

Welcome and enjoy!

22. I have found DU to be a delightful forum of what I would consider friends.
Sometimes, at first, it seems I had those "raised eyebrow" responses. It is mainly like real life--some get in the groove right away, some cautiously fit in, some get misunderstood & some are provocateurs. Some are just plain disruptors.

I find that I am in the cautiously fit in/misunderstood category, because the written word cannot convey the same as face to face.

So all in all I hate labeling people.
