In less that two weeks Repubs might pick up another governorship...
... are you doing everything you can to fight them?

The battle for the Virginia governorship is coming up, but I haven't seen many threads about it for some reason. With less than two weeks to election day, the race between Kilgore (R) and Kaine (D) is close, and most polls show Kilgore ahead by a hair.

If the Repubs win this one, it will increase their hold on goverorships to 29. And I am sure the media will be all over Democrats losing in the middle of a bunch of Republican scandals.

Please do whatever you can to help:

Or check out the Virginia forum here:

If you are from Virginia, let us know how things are going and what we can do.

Keep it kicked! This is an important election!

1. Latest polls show Kaine up by 2
Lots of big hitters here for Kaine - Granholm, Richardson, Obama, Clark.

Kilgore didn't even make an appearance with *when * was in Norfolk- claimed he had "other campaign events" to attend to.

5. It's not enough. Anything less than 5 is eminently stealable
Besides, Kilgore is a fucking idiot. Kaine has the wits to be mopping the floor with him, and they're running even? Jeez. Smartest thing he's done so far was avoid the * visit.

Of course, the incumbent senator from Kentucky (forgot his name just now) was even stupider in 2004, blatantly cheated in his televised debate appearance, and won anyway. Republicans have the spin machine and the attack dogs to win with a ham sandwich. Come to think of it, I wish they would run a ham sandwich just to prove the point, and because it would be a better legislator than the fuckwits they keep propping up.

If Kilgore beats Kaine, then my hat is off to Mark Warner for pulling out a win in a stupid red state, and I hope he runs for president.

Or can the voting machines be hacked?

3. Here's a great article
on Tim Kaine in The Nation..

snip~
"Tim Kaine is a graduate of Harvard Law School, a savvy legal advocate who made a name for himself working with the American Civil Liberties Union and other groups to battle housing discrimination, and a multilingual world traveler who responds to questions with references to Federico Fellini's films and Mario Vargas Llosa's novels. But on a hot late-summer afternoon in the dusty southwest Virginia town of Galax, which seems about as far from Harvard Yard as an American can travel, Kaine was making no references to his best-and-brightest legal training, nor to foreign films. Instead, he was blowing a harmonica with the fellows who'd gathered at Barr's Fiddle Shop, cranking out a foot-stomping rendition of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." As he campaigns for governor of Virginia, in the most critical of the November 8 off-year elections for the battered Democratic Party, Kaine is making like a good ol' boy, wheeling around Virginia in a Dodge Dakota pickup truck, quoting Bible verses, shouldering a 12-gauge shotgun, announcing, "I enjoy shooting skeet" and playing that harmonica for all it's worth."

More on Kaine..

7. Working on VA resident sister and BIL
She is not hard to convince. He thinks Republicans are "moral values" people. However, I did get him to at least listen to me this past weekend. He might have just been smiling and nodding too. I think I have my sister swayed to vote for Kaine...she really didn't know much about him.

8. The Virginia race is precarious, but winnable.
However, we are poised to pick up CA, CO, MA, NY, MD, and possibly others next year so don't despair.
