Support the Troops!
Well, it looks like invading Syria is inevitable now. So, it's time for the Democratic Party like Lieberman and Hillary and a host of others once again to be tough on national security.

I wish the Party could be tougher on peace, instead. Oh well. That's reality for you.

1. If there is anything we cannot tolerate it's ...
countries that meddle in the affairs and seek to overthrow the sovereignty of other nations. :eyes:

3. If you have an inside connection
to make it a campaign slogan for any Democrat at all, I won't even take any credit. :)

4. I'd hope that that would be the goal of all democrats
Republicans are too ignorant to know the value of peace. Isn't it telling that veterans like General Clark (and me) see our military as a tool to build peace instead of whatever the hell goes on in the minds of conservatives?

The choice is very easy - Your excellent Slogan - Let's get Tough on Peace

or the gop's relentless beating of the drum for death, destruction and despair.

5. Of course the GOP doesn't know the value of peace..they 're getting rich
on war! Where's that graphic that shows the incredible up-surge in the stocks of arms manufactures, defense contractors, etc.? Ask Halliburton what they think about peace.

6. Let's not pretend that Democrats have nothing to do with that either.
Feinstein's husband for example is a defense contractor. Why hasn't she abstained from war votes as a matter of conflict of interest. Thank the PDA anyway for running someone against her in the primaries. Many Democrats, too, are not tough on peace. For example, Lieberman, Hillary, 1/2 of the DLC, in fact. Others, too, do not want to be perceived as weak on national security, so are weak on peace issues. Admittedly, though, the Democrats at the moment are much better at peace than the Republicans.

8. A Quote for You
"It is only those who have neither fire a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, more vengeance, more desolation. War is hell" William Tesumch Sherman- Civil War General.

Maybe that quote explains why you and "General Clark see the military as a tool to build peace". Maybe if more Republicans fought in the wars they called for they would agree with you on the subject. There seems to be more Democrats in Congress who served in the military and saw war.

10. Funny that even some heads in Israel do not want regime change in Syria
Remember what regime change brought to Iraq?

No consensus in J'lem on Syrian regime change

By Haaretz Staff

Opinions are divided in Jerusalem as to whether the fall of Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime would be good for Israel.

A number of senior government officials said yesterday they believed Assad's fall, as a possible consequence of Syria's suspected involvement in former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri's murder, would benefit Israel because Syria's government was the worst possible regime.

"The theories that the present president of Syria is convenient for us are equivalent to the ridiculous allegations that the existence of Hamas is convenient for Israel," a senior official said.

On the other hand, a senior military official said a rise to power in Syria of the Muslim Brotherhood and extremists who might even cooperate with Al-Qaida could be more dangerous.

The complete calm on the Golan Heights and the forced pullout of Assad's troops from Lebanon should not be ignored, according to the official. "A different regime might change the reality on all levels. It would be dangerously presumptuous to seek a regime change in Syria."
