I saw a post earlier today about survey numbers that prompted response. I kept it short and to the point, but I'd like to get some feedback on possible improvements or better point of view to make the message more valuable.
While researching candidates for the next governor, I saw a survey(
http://www.strategicvision.biz/political/pa_poll_1019.htm) that gave Lynn Swann 38% (the highest) of Republican voters in the primary, and 41% of all voters if the election were held today. Comparing these numbers to the educational and professional background of Mr. Swann, I was gobsmacked! What skills, training, or background does Mr Swann offer that draw this level of support? What skills, training, or background does Mr Swann offer that would make him a valuable public servant?
Being a follower of Thomas Jefferson, I think that an educated and informed public is the best defense of liberty and democracy. The results of this survey begs me to question where the failure occurred, education or information? I hope that both possibilities can be addressed to provide a better commonwealth and nation.
The paper this is being sent to is a Scaife supported rw rag. I've had a couple of other LTTE's printed before, but I want to make people think about what affects their political choices.
Any advice on phrasing, framing, or context is welcome.
