Last month: Child mortality is on the rise in US/UN report
"For half a century the US has seen a sustained decline in number of children who die before their 5th birthday. But since 2000 this trend has been reversed.

Although the US leads the world in health care spending -per head of population it spends twice what other rich OECD nations spend on average, 13% of the national income, this high level goes disproportionately on the care of white Americans. It has not been targeted to eradicate large disparities in infant death rates based on race, wealth & state of residence.

The infant mortality rate in US is now the same as Malaysia.

High levels of spending on personal health care reflect American cutting edge technology & treatment. But the paradox at the heart of US health system is that because of inequalities in health financing, countries that spend substantially less than US have, on average, a healthier population. A baby boy from one of the top 5% richest families in America will live 25% longer than a baby boy born in the bottom 5%. The infant mortality rate in US is same as Malaysia which has a fourth of the income."

Why do we tolerate this? The numbers of uninsured are growing (and thus, the number of Americans destined to die). The morally bankrupt have wrested control of our government away and no longer act in the best interests of the American public. How many will die before Americans wake up?

Bush has a LOT to answer for. What might those dead babies have accomplished in the world in their lifetimes? Might Bush have killed a Einstein or a Pastuer? These policies make me ill.

1. Ah yes, it's that good old republican culture of life at work again...
apparently your life only counts before you are actually born, or if you are in a persistent vegitative state. :puke:

3. "or if you are in a persistent vegitative state."
Only if you have insurance to cover the costs of said vegetable status. No doubt they check before offering support.

WRT unborn children, it has nothing to do with children at all. It's all about controlling women and gaining power over them.

Roll back to cave man days (with related death tolls), courtesy of Bush and his ilk.

4. I digress, but in my mind, bush**voters have a lot to answer for,
also. They are of the same mindset as bush**, Grover Norquist, etc. What you or I might find appalling is just okie dokie with them, and without the voters, where would he be? I'm well aware of the shenanigans that went on in '00 and '04, but there were still millions of people who find this sorry state of affairs acceptable. I refuse to let them off of the hook.
