The Other Shoe Is About To Drop
on the Republican leadership, now reeling from the indictment of House Republican Leader Tom DeLay and the imminent indictments coming down from the Plame Grand Jury.

snip...

What is less well understood is that Ambramoff also served as the registered Washington lobbyist for the Government of Pakistan and is a fixer for Saudi moneymen tied to al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups. Abramoff is further implicated in the financial looting of giant Tyco International, a case that has ties to the Bush Justice Department.

snip...

Abramoff is close to most of the Republican leadership, and they have greatly benefited from that relationship. His ties include: President Bush; U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay; Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania; party strategist Grover Norquist; and former Christian Coalition executive director and Bush campaign official, Ralph Reed.

Such close ties may soon turn out out to be a fatal embrace for these Republican leaders as details of Abramoff's multifaceted web of corruption become clear.

This is one of the comments:

Urgent recommend ...

This needs to be a top story of the day.

And people need to realize that the reason that the 9/11 attacks were never fully investigated was not for tinfoil reasons like "CIA planned it," but because too many al-Qaeda players have too many suspicious links to the president, members of the Bush Administration and to prominent Republicans.

The 9/11 trail leads directly back to rich Saudis who are playing an extremely complicated game of their own on their home turf, waging a proxy war with extremists, etc., etc., etc.

The problem that the Bush Administration has is that the whole lot of them are up to their neck in influence from the send Saudis who pumped and continue to pump money into Islamic extremism around the world.

The Abramoff story is chapter 1,342 of the book.

.......................................................

There is a lot here we already know but as more info becomes public, we will begin to see how this web was intricately designed and managed. We will also see how these traitors, once exposed, will find themselves prosecuted and convicted...caught in their own web.
Stay tuned.

3. sheesh...how far is this going to reach?
"too many al-Qaeda players have too many suspicious links to the president, members of the Bush Administration and to prominent Republicans."

I don't want to over-react but this is starting to get worrying. Some people have been criticised for peddling silly conspiracy theories; I'm not so sure those people were entirely up the wrong path.

I have never been convinced that a few people could have pulled this off on their own anyway.

5. All these scandals means that the
list of those NOT involved is the shorter one. Here is another quote from the Statesman:

Rove "has some serious problems," said Naomi Seligman, spokeswoman for the watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. "But while most of Washington is focused on Mr. Rove, we know that the linchpin to the ethical downfall of the White House and some members of Congress is the Abramoff investigation."

Charlie Cook, publisher of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report newsletter, agreed that the Abramoff investigation is "the one that they (Republicans) are really worried about" because it has the potential of tarring the party.

"This is a real one," Cook said. "It has the potential to take the scandal issue to the next level."

6. This is why I love DU!!

and other certain blogs....some posters are able to spell things out clearly and succinctly. It would be funny if the Plame Leak is being used by the MSM to detract attention away from this story, which should be the big "iceberg" story.

8. Agreed. This is like a Ludlum novel
A bit hard to follow, but man, what a story! As they say, you just can't make this stuff up. Right down to *41 having breakfast with OBL's brother on 9/11.

9. I've been telling my mystery lovin' freeper Mom to just read all
about this administration. She'd get the real deal, with many perks... just like you described. Instead, she prefers Ludlum, it's "more comfortable" that way. Need more be said? Ugh.:(

11. LOL! She may not be able to shy away from it for long
There are so many of the same people involved with all these scandals. I really believe the 'little fish' like Flanigan and Safavian will start talking. I'm surprised Flanigan's withdrawal of his nom for deputy attorney general(thank you, Senator Levin!) got dropped so fast. But I'm sure he will be back in the headlines soon enough. I wonder if Abramoff will sing like a canary.

10. That's right.....

I was never a fan of MIHOP theories, but in the case of *41..... maybe when *43 wised up he found religion, again...
