Poor Harriet Miers
Poor old thing. I cannot help but feel sorry for her. She went from being a behind-the-scenes Bush sycophant to being the most hated woman in America overnight. Every square inch of her life is being crawled over with a microscope and she is fodder for jokes and late night monologues.

Silly cow. You would think she could have seen this coming. I wonder whose idea her nomination was? I know there are people who think she picked herself, but after hearing her dazzled notes to Bush, I think he asked her. And, heart pounding, she stepped into the breach for 'The Best Presidet EVER!" (to paraphrase one of her breathless letters).

I wonder if she still loves him like she did before he nominated her.

4. You know I hate it when females attack other
females for their age or looks. Calling her old and a silly cow is nasty.

Why don't you find something of substance to attack. The only thing I like about her is the fact she is a woman.

5. Agreed, and her best girl friend needs to ...
tell her gently, "Take it easy on the eyeliner, hon. It really is too much!" :puke:

7. I ALMOST feel sorry for her.
It's likely she never expected to get such a ration of shit from her own party, and it's been pretty brutal. But in fact I don't feel all that sorry for her, for this reason: If she hadn't spent the last 10 years with her head up Bush's ass she'd have known she wasn't qualified to be on the Supreme Court. What she should have said, when offered the position, is "I'm honored, but I can't possibly accept; I've never been a judge and I don't have the background or experience in constitutional law that the job requires. I'll help you find a qualified candidate, but for the sake of the court and the country I must decline." She didn't turn down a position she should have known she wasn't qualified for, so I'm not going to feel too bad for her.

8. If * thinks she's so good
how come in all the time he's known her, he's never put her on the bench in a lesser court, the way he did the others, instead of wasting her talents doing secretarial work?

Here's an interesting little pop quiz given her by the Dallas Morning News in 1991:

The best advice I could give a 20-year-old is: be good, study hard and dream

My last meal would be: ice cream

My trademark cliché or expression is: a pause before I say something

My worst habit is: talking too long on telephone conversations

My best asset is: determination

Behind my back, people say: They can't figure me out.

Guests at my fantasy dinner party: the Apostle Paul, Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Thatcher

I wish I could sing like: Willa Dorsey

If I had a different job, I'd be: a doctor

Favorite city outside Dallas: Aspen or San Francisco

I'm happiest when: I'm around people I like and admire

If I could change one thing about myself, it would be: I would be able to read faster

I regret: not speaking foreign languages

Nobody knows I: hate snakes
