Analysts say S.C. can seal it for Kerry
John Kerry can eliminate his last serious opponent by coming to South Carolina and beating John Edwards on his own turf next week, political observers said Tuesday.

“If Kerry beats Edwards in South Carolina, that’s probably it,” University of Virginia political scientist Larry Sabato said Tuesday night.

Seems to be a big showdown. Edwards leads Kerry in current polls 24 to 17...

3. Are these the same analysts...
...that wrote him off a few weeks ago? Or are these the analysts that declared Dean unstoppable? Maybe it's the analysts who pronounced Dean dead last week? I think I'll wait for some more actual votes to be cast. :)

4. Do you know who Sabato Is?
I wouldn't lay any bets on his pronouncements! Why not read up and then take a look at the rest of 2/3 and at Super Tuesday?

7. I know who he is
One of the least talented, most often incorrect hacks in the business. I think he called a race correctly back in the late 1970's and has been quoted like God ever since.

5. Analysts are the big losers
Seems to me that the talking heads are going to be voted off the island before the next candidate drops out if they can't do better than they have so far. Conventional wisdom has never looked more like conventional talking out of inappropriate orifices.

6. Some of the same analysts that told us Clark needed a 3rd place in NH
Then told us he failed because he finished 3rd. These guys are so full of bullshit their eyes are brown.

This week is gonna be lots of F-U-N !!!!

10. well, there is another scenario
Kerry might win SC, but what if Edwards takes Missouri or Oklahoma in a mild upset (he is close in polls)

I think each candidate is focusing on a few states they can safely win, Edwards has put resources and established a base in SC, so I don't know how stiff a challenge he'll face. Kerry might want to guarantee a victory in Arizona and Missouri so he won't bother paying much attention to Oklahoma and SC.

it's all a big chess game

14. Edwards can hold off kerry if he runs hard in SC
and I think Clark can win Oklahoma. Everything is up for grabs, but if Kerry does sneak in a win there, most likely we can say he'll probably win the nomination.

12. Fuck analysts
I am getting sick and tired of the "analysts" wanting everything wrapped up all nice and tidy by the first week of February.

Hell, why have primaries all over the country? Our votes shouldn't count - let's just let the first nine states decide our candidates and the rest of us can go along like obedient second-class citizens.

18. Why bother?
Just eliminate the middle people (voters) and let the pundits (s)elect our candidates.

15. I heard on C-SPAN that SC had more retired military than any other state
that should bode well for Kerry and Clark, I would think?
