the Meirs nomination is not about ideology
it is the bushturd trying to pack the court with his friends to ensure:

1. future SCOTUS-sanctioned coups
2. the bushturd's own ass will be sparedafter he is acquitted
3. personal favors to help Carlyle and Halliburton's continue generating illegal profits for a generation into the future.

1. Yup. If it's ideological, the ideology is corporatism.

4. Corporatists finance candidates from both major parties for
our Senate and House of Representatives and pass bipartisan laws that reduce their taxes on estates, personal income, corporations, and dividends and pass other laws favorable to multinational corporations.

The best way to guarantee laws favorable to Corporatists are not ruled unconstitutional is to stack the Supreme Court with justices who support the Corporatists’ agenda. Miers’ has extensive experience acting for corporations and she along with Chief Justice Roberts create a very favorable climate for Corporatists who appeal cases to their Supreme Court.

See Corporatism

6. I don't think it is as much that
(although that is certainly true)

as it is purely personal lust for power, greed and self preservation

9. I agree.
Bush knows many in his administration are in deep trouble if Fitzgerald does his job. He needs a packed court to get them off.
