The key numbers are a 52% to 34% Casey lead and only 37% approve of Bush's job performance.

2. Let us see what the republicans pull out of the hat between now and...
November 2006. They will probably get way down in the dirt.

3. Yeah, but that probably won't help them in PA.
They have really pissed off the entire state it seems.

5. They won't have to get down in the dirt.......
although they probably will, that's just their way. But remember, they have voting machines on their side. This should be a test to see how corrupt our system really is. You know this: they do not want him to lose.

9. PA voters.
From September 27 - October 3, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,530 Pennsylvania voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.5 percentage points.

7. Tangent: heard BBC story about underground PA coal fires, burning for 20 y
for 20 years!

They're destroying the environment, giving off poisonous fumes, etc.

They could have been contained when they started but local governments didn't have the money to do it.

Reminds me of N.O.

10. Does Casey have any Democratic opposition?
A few PA DUers have said they absolutely would not vote for him in the past, I wonder if that is changing?

11. None that probably have a better chance than Casey.
Casey is, of course, pro-life so that's why many said they would not vote for him. However, since he is economically liberal, that is a big improvement over Santorum.

14. Mr. Casey Is The Right Candidate, Ma'am
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 01:05 PM by The Magistrate
An anti-abortion candidate is anathema to me personally, but there is no question this fellow can evict that wretch Santorum from the Senate, and that is the only consideration that matters here....

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

20. I absolutely agree here. PA has an unparalleled chance to take out one
of the most reprehensible Senators known to our democracy.

I'm vehemently pro-choice, but I know which side the butter's on.

Go get 'em!!!

22. Precisely.
I know it'll only be a matter of time after Casey is elected before DU starts calling him a DINO. When they do, I'll just post a pic of Santorum and ask, "You would have preferred this?"

24. I agree with you, Sir. Casey is the best candidate.
I, also, have problems with Casey's abortion stance. But I can overlook that for the chance to remove that sorry excuse for a Senator the people of Pennsylvania are saddled with right now.

26. Sort of, a college prof, Chuck Pennachio
is running against him with no support from the state party. Gov. Rendell and the pollsters don't even acknowledge his entry. He's much more liberal. Worked for Paul Simon & either Harkin or Vilsack.

17. Any Chance Toomey will challenge Santorum in the primary? You know
he is pissed at him for backing Specter and this kind of weakness in the polls a year before an election often encourages primary challengers. Shit, what if a pro-choice Republican runs?

conservatives would stay away from the polls and rethugs would lose seats currently held by Santorum and DeWine.

21. Can we get a few more noms here? This is EXCELLENT news!
Just imagine the amount of money that will be needed to have even a dim hope of turning this momentum around for the Rs.

Even better, the national party may decide that their money is better spent elsewhere.
