Is Barack Obama still our rising star?
If he still is, how fast can he rise?

And if he isn't, then who is?

I know it's probably silly to think of him running in 2008, but then again, I would've said you were nuts if you told me 6 or 7 years ago that the idiot son of a pathetic ex-president could actually become THE next president in such a short order of time!

Anyway, this guy, Obama, was absolutely COMMANDING when he gave his Democratic Convention speech. Even if you've already heard his speech, take some time and watch it again if you could use a reminder of just how powerful a speaker he is. Whomever our next candidate happens to be, I hope beyond hope that he or she is as charismatic and inspiring as Obama is when he speaks. Here's a link where you can watch the video of it:

1. Seems he has been staying out of the limelight.
At least I haven't heard much about him lately.

7. "Democrat In Name Only"
something many Dems get accused of here at DU, often unjustifiably (and it's certainly unjustified to call Obama a DINO).

18. For some people if you look at them funny you'll be labeled a DINO
He'll also be called "DLC" even though it's well documented how the DLC put his name on their list and then Obama asked that it be removed

3. I'm sure he intends to be the first black president...
and that isn't going to happen until 2025, if then. Good luck to him, he'll need to be a long-distance runner, stay clean and stay off small commuter aircraft (and AmTrak).
