What Hillary fans have to remember.
"In politics perception is reality."

What you have to understand is this. If the Democrats nominate Hillary Clinton, they are not asking America to elect another Clinton - which could be problematic in itself. They are asking Americans to elect Hillary Clinton, and all the perceptions that go with that, to be the first woman President EVER.

Whether Americans are ready for a woman President or not is immaterial. Are they ready for Hillary Clinton to become the first woman President?

I don't think so. This, along with her stupid triangulation policies, will sink the Democratic Party in 2008 if she is nominated. She might lose by 20 points or more.

We need change. And change doesn't mean going back to the President who existed before this President. It means CHANGE from them all.

That's the winning formula for 2008.

I have nothing against Hillary. I think she should stay as a Senator in New York and actually accomplish something there before asking to be promoted to the top job which neither she nor the country is ready for.

My opinion.

1. Would you explain what you mean by
triangulation policies? This is a new term for me, at least in politics.

3. Why this lecture?
Most people at DU are well aware that any talk of Hillary being the Dem nominee is nothing but a right-wing pipe dream that's circulating. I guess THEY think that if they talk about it enough, it will become a self-fulfilling prophesy, that Dems will see Hillary's nomination as inevitable.

Not so. None of the Dem PTB that I know are considering even the slightest possibility that Hillary will be the nominee.

Why DUers continue to perpetuate the stupid speculation, and then to admonish others over it, is beyond me.

5. Its beyond me too.
I have seen so many anti Hillary threads and posts and other anti-Democratic Party posts that sometimes I wonder if I am on a pro Democratic board or on an anti one. Don't we have enough Freepers bashing Hillary and the other Dems? I'm sure many of them appreciate our help. God, this gets old....

11. Well, it worked last time.
I mean, who was voting for Kerry?

In the South, everyone was a Clarkie.
In the North, everyone was a Deaniac.

Who was for Kerry until the Reich wing media started talking him up?

13. The Democratic population of Iowa, and virtually every other state?
Not everything that you dislike is a vast right wing conspiracy.

4. A moderate Republican friend thinks she will be the candidate,
which makes me suspicious. Why do Republicans seem to want Hillary to be our candidate? The answer, I think, is obvious: they believe she cannot win.

I am torn. People are really polarized about Hillary. Even some progressive women, who should want to elect a strong woman like Hillary as President, intensely dislike her. I have a hard time with her being the candidate, but mainly because I think her vote and continued hawkish public stance on the Iraq war is dishonest and a betrayal of her actual beliefs. All that said, I think she would be a good president, but only if there was a strong Democratic party hold on Congress. I sure as hell do not want another Republican administration in the remainder of MY lifetime!

14. I don't think it's primarily because they think that she can't win.
I believe that whether she could or not is kind of irrelevant to their minds--though they probably think she couldn't. I think they obsess on it because of their twisted Clinton fetish. They wet themselves over the idea of getting to bash the Clintons again. It's the same thing that drives their "Clinton's fault" song every time something goes wrong.

15. I can see that being true
However, what could be better than being able to bash Clinton and, at the same time, take the White House again based on distractions from the real issues and the corruption of the GOP?

6. Is America ready for Hillary?
well, as many people around here like to point out, 2008 is a long time from now. We may or may not be ready by 2008. Let's just wait and see how things play out.

Oh, and by the way, this liberal would love to go back to the President who existed before the current one.

8. Of course the republicans want Hillary
Then they can run just about anybody and be assured that there base will come out in droves. They can run a moderate republican that under other circumstances would be a yawner for their base. It is a brilliant tactic.

I too would love to see a woman in the WHouse, but gender doesn't mean I sell my soul for Hillary Thatcher...er...I meant Clinton. Sorry. Really.

For all you Hillary fans, not to worry. She will have all the money and that's all that matters. Isn't it?

9. I agree in some areas...
I think that she is just as divisive as the knuckle head in office. I like her a lot, and I love Bill. But I hate it when people say "Who cares what happened 10 years ago when her husband was in office? She's not her husband." You wanna know who cares? The same people that cared 10 years ago. They didn't go away. In fact, they've become more rabid. There are a lot of women disappointed in her for sticking by Bill during all the hub-bub. (As if she had a choice) What we really need is someone that can appeal to all, has a calming effect on people, sounds and is intelligent, and has some foreign policy expertise. (Wes Clark)

10. Doesn't it bother anyone that Hillary polls the same as Bush
Her approval rating is the same as Bush's. We always talk about Bush being "done" because his numbers are dropping, then we contemplate nominating someone with similar numbers.

This is mindboggling to me.
