Cobb Will Not Run for 2008 Presidential Nomination
Monday, 3 October 2005, 9:46 am
Article: autorank

Portland, Oregon, USA: David Cobb, 2004 Green Party Presidential Candidate announced that he would not seek the 2008 Green Party Nomination. Speaking exclusively to Scoop's conference correspondent, Cobb said: "I think that the Green Party should run a woman for president in 2008. Under the right circumstances, I'd be happy to be the Vice Presidential candidate of the right Green woman because the Greens take gender equality seriously."

Comment: We need to be grateful to Cobb forever for his courage in standing up to the thugs in Ohio and challenging that election, hanging in there when few helped, and persisting in the face of frequent delays and setbacks.

1. Cobb
Cobb (in conjuntion with the libertarian) did do a great job standing up for vote fairness in Ohio. It will be interesting to see if the Greens try and seek out a big name that could threaten the Democratic candidate.

3. You hit it right on the head. He's a hero just like Conyers and the Ohio
activists, many of whom are on this board. They're all going down in history as the people who said "enough" already!

4. He's a very bright guy and would have just killed in presidential debates.
Very bright, quick and an excellent sense of humor.

I thanked him personally for the Ohio challenge, told him it was one of the bravest things an American politician has done in my lifetime.

I hope the guy writes a book on all of this!

5. what a shame, the true patriots are side lined while
the morons rise to the highest office in the land, it's such a joke,
what if we had 10 parties, a recall option and parliament system,
surely then it would be less likely a chance for corporate take-over
of the government. I can't believe a nation with the responsibility
we have runs its elections along the lines of picking the Queen
of the Prom.

6. This is a shame
Cobb had the courage to contest the Ohio ballots, and he kept the Green Party from supporting Nader for yet a third straight election.

7. What do you think the chances would be of Cobb running for public office..

... in Texas as a Democrat. I know he used to be Dem when he worked on Jesse Jackon's campaign. I think he would be a great progressive Congressman.

8. I am grateful for Mr. Cobb and all the Greens who helped my state...
in the last election. When Kerry failed to bring up the issue of election tampering, Cobb and Bardinick were there to fight for our right to vote. I don't agree with them politically on most issues, that's why I'm a Dem but they represent how I believe real political parties should behave.

9. Any other year, I could have given him serious thought.
Kudos for his championing of fair elections in Ohio.

Don't give up the fight for your beliefs, sir. You have made a difference, Mr. cobb.

Godspeed.
