Did Libby and Rove commit perjury? Do you think they lied
under oath about what they knew and when they knew it? Were their motives dishonorable? Does anyone else know?

2. I don't know
The upcoming week will be interesting, especially if indictments are handed out as suspected by those close to the case have stated. I would like to see DeLay some how caught up in this one, in addition to his TRMPAC and ARMPAC problems.

3. I HOPE I hope I hope
I HOPE!!!

If there is a God, it will happen. THere was a NYTimes article talking about how so many deals were done with the people who testified keeping the amount of questions limited, so I wonder how affective this whole investigation is... Hopeful they just asked the right questions.

5. I am betting on Cheney/Scooter
Rove will not be touched. In my opinion, Bush's flip flop on how he would handle staff involvements pretty much knocked rove off my list

Cheney is an excellent scapegoat. Older, bad health, no aspirations to run for president. He is just looking to retire so why not blame Cheney. I think Tenet will be smeared as well.

6. My money's on the following for Rove
Edited on Sun Oct-02-05 02:04 AM by longship
I see this as something very big and the indictments may be far in scope.

I'm betting one or more counts of perjury, obstruction of justice, and one or more conspiracy charges (consp. to suborn, consp. to obstruct, consp. to violate intelligence laws).

If Rove goes down for conspiracy, Libby will be their with him.
Cheney may get obstruction of justice and conspiracy charges.

Who violated the federal intelligence laws?
Condi? Bolton? Somebody else?

Which WHIG members are also implicated?
Hadley? Hughes? Matalin? Ari? Little Scotty?

Who turned and talked?
Ari? Matalin?

8. Yes, Mary Matalin may be deeply involved in this.
Edited on Sun Oct-02-05 02:16 AM by longship
She was/is a WHIG (White House Iraq Group) group. That is the group whose mission was to sell the war with Iraq to the public. I believe she was also on Air Force One for the Africa trip on which the Rove/Plame affair was hatched.

Some have suggested her as a possible cooperator. (all speculation)

11. Yup?
But what was it that Carville said to him....

This may be something we need to look at. Let me look this up.
I'm curious whether there is something to glean from Carville's
comments.

17. He taunted Novak and said, got to be tough for the conservatives.
Edited on Sun Oct-02-05 03:47 AM by The Backlash Cometh
That's paraphrasing, but a better quote lies below.

The more I think about it, the more I think Carville gave Novak an out. Novak was going to be asked about the Plame outing that night. It would have been the next segment on the show.

I wonder too how much Carville's wife is involved in this mess. I feel bad for him because I know that way back when they tried to recruit Carville for lobbying purposes, and Carville did the upright thing and walked away saying that it's not what he does. Then he marries right into that mess. Maybe he said, "Got to be tough for the conservatives," was meant on a more personal level, meaning that even his wife was required to act tough for the conservatives and may have done some rash things because of it? Things that now they both regret?

Was there something in what Carville said that might have come from a cooperating Matalin? It doesn't look like it. But maybe Carville's words meant something a bit more serious to Novakula. I key on "The Wall Street Journal's editorial page is watching you." That is the only thing that I can see that might make Novakula go off on James like that.

It doesn't look significant to me. But the Matlin/Carville connection might have something to do with it. If one of Novakula's sources is Matalin, Carville may be echoing something Matalin has said to Novakula. That would dig pretty deep and may worry Novakula significantly.

You've gotta show these right-wingers some kind of backbone, you know. The Wall Street Journal editorial page is watching you. Show them you're tough.

That's what triggered Novakula to say, "That's bullshit." and then walk off.
