This animal situation is the icing on the cake. Someone is taking a lot of money for themselves and not saving any animals with it.

23. I can barely even talk about this.

While all the people were waiting to be saved, I acknowledged they come first, but in the back of my mind I realized how totally screwed the animals were. When people evacuated, they expected to bring their pets with them, and then reluctantly left them behind contained in these buildings with food and water, expecting that they would be rescued.

I can barely fathom what actually transpired.

Rescuers are working tirelessly to save the rest of these poor stranded creatures, and they've met with nothing but resistance from the authorities.

I realize you can't teach people compassion for animals, but we sure as hell can prosecute them for their cruelty. I hope those that perpetrated these crimes rot in hell, and the same for those in authority who could and did not lift a finger to help the stranded animals. As I gather close to my own pets, my heart continues to break for the plight of these innocent creatures.
