Clark and Edwards cannobolizing each other?
One of them has to drop out to have a chance against Kerry now. Otherwise, they split the southern vote and Kerry wins by default.

1. Wrong
By the time the primaries are over next week it'll be Clark and Edwards in the lead. Kerry and Dean simply don't have the legs in the south or out west...

2. I know, just like Kerry just didn't have the organization in Iowa
or the energy in New Hampshire.

7. We shall see next week..
After all, that's why they have elections right??

I believe that General Clark is the right guy for the nomination and the right guy for the job. Clark's intrinsic appeal is that he can sway Independents and moderate republicans. A dyed-in-the-wool career Democratic politician won't be able to persuade the swing voters IMHO.

Don't get me wrong, I think that Kerry is a fine guy, I just think that with all his years in the Senate there's alot more material for the "liberal-media" to work with as far as smears are concerned..

3. Yeah. I think Ivy League Yankee Kerry has played his hand.
Besides, Kerry said he didn't need the South!
So he should skip it, and leave it to those who don't think Southerners are insignificant.

http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/Politics/Vote2004/kerry_south_040126-1.html

"Jan. 26 — Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., is discounting notions that any Democratic candidate would have to appeal to Southern voters in order to win the presidency, calling such thinking a "mistake" during a speech at Dartmouth College.

Kerry's remarks Saturday were so starkly antithetical to how many southern Democrats feel their party should campaign for the presidency, that a former South Carolina state Democratic chairman told ABCNEWS that Sen. Ernest "Fritz" Hollings, D-S.C., who endorsed Kerry last week, perhaps "ought to reconsider his endorsement."

During a town hall meeting on the Dartmouth campus, Kerry noted that former Vice President Al Gore would be president if he'd won any number of other non-Southern states in 2000, including New Hampshire, West Virginia, and Ohio.

"Everybody always makes the mistake of looking South," Kerry said, in response to a question about winning the region. "Al Gore proved he could have been president of the United States without winning one Southern state, including his own.""

4. it's a different battle down south and west
I'm not saying Kerry can't win, he can. But things change in a hurry. It won't be easy for Kerry to take OK, SC, and a few others. It's still a dogfight, and this is the toughest week yet.

6. ...there's some truth to this...
I think Dean and Clark are also splitting the outsider vote...

...and Edwards and Dean are splitting the "movement to change America" vote...

Kerry has been able to ride above the fray without being pigeonholed into a niche, but we'll see what happens when the other 3 candidates bring it on...

10. Oklahoma - for anyone interested
It's Clark and Edwards for the 47 delegates in Oklahoma.

Kerry has NEVER been here, not once. I think it's funny that Clark got criticized because he skipped Iowa, but Kerry is skipping Oklahoma.
