Judge deems big part of Bush's "healthy forests act" illegal!
www.wilderness-sportsman.com

A California court has concluded that the USFS must allow environmental evaluations and public involvement in any sized USFS project. The Bush admin had sought to wipe out any kind of public involvement or NEPA evaluation on projects smaller than a couple thousand acres. That would have given the green light to log roadless and non-roadless portions of national forest lands without ANY public involvement or requirement to look for rare species and possible damage to water quality. This was a huge part of the "healthy forest act" that industry donors were salivating over. Now, they will be kicking and screaming once again :)

3. You've got that right..........
"clean air", healthy forests".......it's all a sham. Where it concerns the environment, bush always does exactly the opposite of what his "plan" suggests it's supposed to do. :grr:

5. Damned Librul Calaforneeens......
I always wondered about the legality of this, I hope the higher courts don't over-rule this finding. If it gets to the Supremes, you know which way it's going to go.

7. Hopefully not... we will just continue to fight this and not
stop our fight for what is right. The generations after us will be more than just grateful.

Once we get the upper hand again, as I trust we will, we will just have to make sure that respect for the environment is nailed down tighter than it was when this crew took over.

12. Now the Endangered Species Act is under attack, and we need your help..
www.defenders.org
sign and help!!!
America's national symbol was once almost lost forever. But today, the bald eagle once again soars over our nation ... thanks in large part to the Endangered Species Act. to save it.

Forward this message to a friend...

Yesterday the influential House Resources Committee voted 26-12 to advance a bill that would severely undermine the Endangered Species Act. The legislation, introduced earlier this week by Representative Richard Pombo (R-CA), would dismantle key protections for wolves, bald eagles and other endangered wildlife.

The full House could vote on this bill as soon as Tuesday. Please send a message to your Representative right now urging him or her to vote against the Pombo bill.

13. Sorry, my congressman is Denny Hastert.
He doesn't vote unless there is a tie - which means he never votes or represents us in our district. And if he was a voting kind of guy, my bet is that he could care less about the Endangered Species Act because it takes good money out of the hands of developers...

Only hope I have is that we vote him out in 2006 because of the overwhelming evidence (please, please, please) in the Turkish money campaign scandal brewing on his horizon.

6. They should get a fine and penalty for naming it Healthy Forest Act
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 04:30 PM by Mountainman
Why do they always call something what it isn't. They know people won't support it if they told the truth. That in itself should be cause for imprisonment!

11. loggers better hurry to strip all the forests
bewfore this can be enforced. I wonder how long a "delay" they will get to accomplish their task, so they can say "Oops--too late!"

14. Never fear, the new Bush SCOTUS is here!
With their radical justices riubber-stamped by our "hard fighting" Vichy Dems! Yay! Like that sage Reagan said, trees pollute. Betcha that will be the SCOTUS ruling when they reinstate healthy forests - see, trees pollute so the forests will be healthier without them! Thanks dems, for rubber-stamping the * scotus appointees!
