Send Bibles to Hurricane Victims! Jesus will send loaves and fishes!
PRAY HARD! JESUS WILL SEND YOU LOAVES AND FISHES AND TEACH YOU TO WALK ON WATER!

Oh, yes. When an "Act Of god" destroys my home and family, when I am without food and water, what I would want more than anything is a bible. "Now, let us read from The Book of Job..."

I bet they don't make any profit on these bibles, right???

They've already sent 300,000 bibles, supposedly.

Dear NewsMax Readers:

Please read an urgent message from The American Bible Society about the need for Bibles for the victims of Katrina and Rita.

Thank you.

NewsMax.com

Katrina survivors are asking, "Can you get me a Bible?"

At first it's water, food, shelter . . . but very quickly it becomes much more. The sense of loss begins to overwhelm people, and they look for hope and a future. Their thoughts turn to God and the Bible. They want comfort that goes beyond the moment, but their Bibles were lost in the storm.

The American Bible Society needs your help in answering the pleas of tens of thousands who are asking for Bibles to replace ones swept away.

Please help now by sending a generous gift that will replace a lost Bible for a Katrina survivor.

"God, who supplies seed for the sower and bread to eat, will also supply you with all the seed you need and will make it grow and produce a rich harvest from your generosity."
2 Cor. 9.10, GNT

1. Bizarre.
that's all I have to say.

Certainly should not be the first impulse of those wanting to help.

15. In fairness, a trusted friend says The Bible Society is pretty good
They provide cheap bibles to those in need at very little cost.

They subsidize themselves by also selling those expensive kids they keep in church pews.

She wasn't sure if they provide various versions for various denominations.

I suggested a better idea would be if they provided care packages with food, water and a bible in it. Perhaps they could send a bible along with a loaf of bread and a can of tuna fish?

My idea is to make care packages like that available to everyone of every denomination and religion.

Jewish bibles sent with matzos and gefilte fish, for example. Passover is coming up, after all.

11. Good idea
I lived in Louisiana for several years (just recently moved), and people were pretty religious there. If food and water and basic survival needs have been met, what is wrong with sending bibles? As I said, from my experience there, I believe there are probably many people who would like this. But, Like the pp wrote, I wouldn't limit it to bibles, but would send other books and things that allowed people to have a sense of normalcy.

I think some people in this post are being a bit harsh.

I am, after all, wrong 1/12 of the time.

I want to look into this group a little bit more and learn more about what they're like, before I go jumping down their throat like Jonah in the whale.

I think I would have done that before, except I was in a hurry and had to leave the house.

But now, I have to leave the house again in a hurry.

I hate leaving before I've done my homework.

Which did not prevent me from shamefully chuckling when I read your post. But seriously, people need more than bibles to slake their thirst for reading...

PROVE IT. And then the "SEND A GENEROUS GIFT caveat." Give us money in the name of Jesus Christ his own damn self. They need water and food and shelter and you ain't getting my money.

6. God may be too busy watching sparrows and counting hairs
to take the time out to care for people who are drowning. Last big storm, well, rumor has it that HE sent it and then HE watched passively as all his children drowned but eight.

As Ingersoll points out:

"Of course God knew when he made man, that he would afterwards
regret it. He knew that the people would grow worse and worse until
destruction would be the only remedy. He knew that he would have to
kill all except Noah and his family, and it is hard to see why he
did not make Noah and his family in the first place, and leave Adam
and Eve in the original dust. He knew that they would be tempted,
that he would have to drive them out of the garden to keep them
from eating of the tree of life; that the whole thing would be a
failure; that Satan would defeat his plan; that he could not reform
the people; that his own sons would corrupt them, and that at last
he would have to drown them all except Noah and his family. Why was
the Garden of Eden planted? Why was the experiment made? Why were
Adam and Eve exposed to the seductive arts of the serpent? Why did
God wait until the cool of the day before looking after his
children? Why was he not on hand in the morning? Why did he fill
the world with his own children, knowing that he would have to
destroy them? And why does this same God tell me how to raise my
children when he had to drown his?
"

"...According to Moses, God made up his mind not only to destroy
the people, but the beasts and the creeping things, and the fowls
of the air. What had creeping things, and the fowls of the air
done? What had the beasts, and the birds done to excite the anger
of God? Why did he repent having made them? Will some Christian
give us an explanation of this matter? No good man will inflict
unnecessary pain upon a beast; how then can we worship a god who
cares nothing for the agonies of the dumb creatures that he made?"

"Why did he make animals that he knew he would destroy? Does
God delight in causing pain? He had the power to make the beasts,
and fowls, and creeping things in his own good time and way, and it
is to be presumed that he made them according to his wish. Why
should he destroy them? They had committed no sin. They had eaten
no forbidden fruit, made no aprons, nor tried to reach the tree of
life. Yet this god, in blind unreasoning wrath destroyed "all flesh
wherein was the breath of life, and every living thing beneath the
sky, and every substance wherein was life that he had made."

I was thinking of "America: The Book" or perhaps, "Carl Sagan: A Life in the Cosmos."

26. One of Paine's works, perhaps, or Robert Ingersoll's
Sagan's writings are too expansive and don't really promote atheism per se. Dawkins is a well-known atheist, too, but he's better known as a biologist.

12. Domino's Pizza Delivers
Domino’s is owned by a man by the named of Tom Monaghan.
He was raised in a Catholic orphanage.
He has been quoted as saying, “I was distracted by some of the rewards of success, which was hurting my business. I put all of these distractions aside, and focused solely on Domino’s Pizza. I decided to take a “millionaires vow of poverty.” I am focusing on God, family and Domino’s Pizza.”
Domino’s Farms is owned by Tom Monaghan. It doesn’t research science in order to cure diseases. It doesn’t look into alternative energy sources in order to break the back of corruption and greed in our world.
It is an office complex of huge proportions located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Domino’s Farms Office Complex is located on Domino’s Farm.
Monaghan also owns the the Detroit Tigers.
He apparently gave George Bush undisclosed sums for his election. His Ave Maria Foundation donates heavily around the country.
Recently George Bush talked about teaching ‘Intelligent Design’ in public school classrooms.
A court case is opening over the decision of the Dover Area School District in south-central Pennsylvania to teach intelligent design. The ACLU is challenging their decision as a violation of church and state and just bad science.
The Thomas More Law Center is defending the school board.
Domino’s Farms and the Thomas More Law Center are located at : 24 Frank Lloyd Wright Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48106.
Why is a law firm in Michigan popping up in Pennsylvania?
Domino’s Pizza Delivers.
