Enough is Enough
Enough is Enough
Vote Democratic

It seems to me, what with idiot son's poll numbers in the dumper, with the Congress now doing partisan one-party hearings to 'investigate' (read: cover up) the criminal response to Katrina, with stratospheric gas prices, with a worsening economy, with all the mess that's swirling, that simple message - Enough is Enough - may finally start to resonate with John and Jane Q.

I am also concerned that the focus stays on idiot son and his poll numbers. While there is certainly cheer in them thar numbers, we need to be running against the Republicans as a whole, not just the (mal)administration. Bush was a lame duck the day he was sworn in the second time. Our job is to make sure all the slime with which he's covered himself transfers fully to the enablers and syncophants that continue to support him.

I fear that we use him as shorthand for the Republicans as a whole. That would be an error. Instead, we need to be calling out the party and their particularly odious spokespeople as examples of what is wrong with America today. The doings of DeLay and Sensenbrenner and King and Pence and Mehlman and that whole host of reptiles are very much of interest to John and Jane Q.

Enough is Enough
Vote Democratic

2. "Enough is Enough"
would be a good party slogan for 2006. And 2008 for that matter. Short, easy to remember, no nonsense and emphatic. Good one.

6. Is that an available bumper sticker?
It just needs to have the circle-slash-W replaced with a circle-slash-elephant.

14. Thank you so much!
This has been how I've been making a living the past few years...cartoons and anti-Bush/pro-democracy swag. It's a pretty meager existence, so I appreciate every dime, seriously! Thank you for helping out a fellow DUer...you guys are the best!

5. Well said...
I've been trying to make the point that we need to look beyond Dubya.

We have one and only one shot at making Dubya bring the whole Repub party down with him and that is if we can take back the house (and maybe the Senate) next year and begin impeachment hearings. If that fails, we're stuck with him until '09.

In that case, we'll have to let the public know just how corrupt and uncaring the entire Republican party actually is and make it blatantly clear.

You're absolutely correct. Eventually we will have to run against the entire Republican philosophy....

oh yes, one more thing,

Molly Ivans gave us a track to run on when she noted that New Orleans taught us that who you elect does make a difference, and governmental decisions DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

7. Yep. I'm in full agreement.
The bottom line here is what is wrong is wrong. Period. No getting around it. I am so sick of their sanctimonious BS...lying bastards can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned. They have put EVERY AMERICAN in jeopardy by their divisive, partisan bullshit! They (all repukes) must shoulder the responsibility of sitting back, DOING NOTIHNG, and silently watching as their party sold out to the imposters that run OUR HOUSE. They are not fit to call themselves Americans. This isn't just about the politicians in DC. This is about Americans who have aided and abetted these evil, maniacal monsters and I don't believe that their participation in all of this madness should bear no consequence. Actions have consequences. Every spineless Repuke in this country owns this bullshit. That's right. Ownership. They own this evil. Now---what are they going to do about it?

Peace.

11. I read an article this morning -- sorry I don't recall where! --
but I'm sure it was from a thread here at DU.

It said that all the repubs need to do is run someone likable to the masses, who admits that some mistakes have been made & then suggest some minor, albeit meaningless changes in our course & the masses will vote for them again.

You are right that we cannot simply focus on the dim son. He is merely their puppet, an icon that we focus our frustration on. Our real enemy is the neocons. They are more vast & way more powerful than W.

15. We'd better do better than that...
Edited on Thu Sep-22-05 01:41 PM by Kazak
I aspire to be so much more than the lesser of two evils... :(

Edit: We need to do better than vote for us because they suck! We need to somehow work in why we're the better choice, and this falls short, IMO.

16. No argument .... but
this is the day of the sound bite. If it takes more than two words, ears roll shut.

In my opinion, our biggest sin is in being nuanced and in trying to explain shit. No one wants to listen to that except us.

I'm NOT saying we shouldn't have a reason to vote for us and I'm not saying we shouldn't explain why we're better.

But in the end, it needs to be a sound bite. Maybe or maybe no this one, but it has to be something that simple.
