1. He was very good, in the 2 minutes CNN gave him
He got in the whole "2 americas" speech in, which is a good thing for all the voters who are just starting to pay attention.

2. The downside to not having the media expect a meltdown
is that you only get a couple of minutes and then the nets cutaway to something else.

The upside for Dean tonight was that, largely because of last week, he got extensive, wall-to-wall live coverage of his speech. Even when they cut away once he started thanking individuals, they have continued to show the live video feed. He certainly can't complain that they're picking on him tonight!

As we all know, Dean is the only candidate who talks about race.
