(Katherine) Harris needs image change to win seat
Edited on Sat Sep-17-05 07:50 PM by kskiska
Harris has any hope of beating U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson (news, bio, voting record), she may need an extreme makeover.

The Republican congresswoman's poll numbers are poor; her appearance is a distracting issue; and many non-Republican voters see her as a flirty, vacant, beauty-queen wannabe who used her role in the 2000 presidential recount to get to Capitol Hill.

Most political observers think that she can make the race competitive, though, as long as she can shed that image.

(snip)

she was on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes" in an appearance many Republicans are privately calling an embarrassment and one that liberal bloggers have had a field day with.

She stood at an unusual angle for a television interview — her body position and smile reminiscent of a beauty pageant contestant — even as hosts Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes talked about how people have been cruel to her.

"Some people characterize it as flirtation and that's something that she probably would prefer not to have as her image," Lynda Lee Kaid, a University of Florida professor who specializes in telecommunication in politics, said of the interview.

1. Oh, oh, does that mean bigger breast implants or smaller ones?
Normally I would not comment on something so superficial but, given her recent television interview and her very apparent posing to call attention to her physical 'attributes' as opposed to what should have been, in the normal course of events, an interview about her political stance, I just had to go with the 'extreme makeover' aspect in the same vein, lol.

8. How about one of each size just to get some media attention, for openers

2. Let's see...image change. Right, she was a "crook" but now she's not?
Yeah, right Patricia. When there is a restoration of democracy in this country, there will be real investigations headed up by the very best prosecutors in the land, guys and gals you wouldn't want even living in your state (if that state were CA). And guess what they'll go after first, stolen elections. I don't think that there is any image change that could wash away the spots on her leopard purse of a record.

6. She frightens the shit out of me
I find myself having the same dismissive, "she is too lightweight" to worry about attitude I had for GWB before he ran for TX Gov some years back. You know, back when you could go outside without getting skin cancer, gas was about $1.00 a gallon, you had a job that paid your mortgage, you didn't have to worry about yourkids being shipped off to a war for oil. You know, back then.

9. After seeing a video of Harris' H&C appearance, I wrote Randi Rhodes
suggesting that she should dedicate her Friday playing of "Bounce Your Boobies" to her!

Of course, she should have known better. Remember that guy who financed the California Governor recall election, and was told by the GOP he couldn't run, and he ended up in tears?

10. I saw that segment on H & C
She's washed off most of the makeup but stuck her chest out and spoke in this stupid vacuous high pitched giggly voice.

I've seen 6th grade girls flirt more effectively. She just looked like a hag trying to be sexy. Pretty pathetic.

11. The H & C video was disgusting.
I thought she had to be under the influence of something. It was truly a strange presentation.

Crooks and Liars still has the video up, if you have not yet seen it.

17. OK, now that was downright painful...
I was even starting to feel sorry for her until I remembered what she did.

If they *really* vote for her in Florida, I'm afraid they get what they deserve.

Is it just me, or does this strike you as VERY I-really-really-really-wanna-be-the-homecoming-queen?

Edited to add: and why the hell would we want to vote for her because she has average breasts? I mean, seriously? WTF is she thinking? Last time I checked, 50% of the population had breasts...
