Giant Cocaine Shipment Bound for IRAQ seized-5 TONS!

http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2005-09-05-cocaine-seized_x.htm?csp=24
Snip:
"The cocaine was concealed within reels of steel cable 12 feet high and 6 feet wide.

The drugs were divided between two shipping containers recorded as having been sent from Venezuela and bound for IRAQ via Belgium. The cocaine was unloaded in Rotterdam. "

That's a whole lotta nose candy & I can't believe the Iraqi people are the end consumers. I posted this immediately after it was printed but there was so much Katrina traffic it kinda got lost.
In hopes it mat connect a few dots I e-mailed this link to Dahr Jamail. He actually replied!

Here is the correspondence.

1st reply:
Cocaine isn't the only drug-due to the permeability of Iraq's
borders...not only is it now becoming the seat of terrorism, but also
for drug trade. There is literally no law there.

Second letter I sent thanking him for the reply with a comment about the former Iran-Contra crew being in charge again.

2nd reply:
I'm with you. There are many reports now from across Iraq of a
burgeoning drug trade-particularly metha-amphetamines.

Damn!
They are even shipping Meth in!. Gonna be hell dealing with all the new addicts. As if we need more of that crap!
These folks are pure freekin evil!!!

3. under fire these are useful drugs
all drugs have a purpose, & i hate to say it, but if i were being shot at, i'd rather meth & coke in my kit than chocolate or coffee, sorry

when you're absolutely, positively going to die if you fall asleep & let the wrong person thru, & all yr buddies are going to get exploded w. you, you'll have a different attitude toward stimulants

that said, i will never take a stimulant again recreationally

10. Major red flag here...not sure I'm buying this story...
"The drugs were divided between two shipping containers recorded as having been sent from Venezuela and bound for IRAQ via Belgium"

"...sent from Venezuela"?

Anyone think that this is a set up--against Chavez and the country of Venezuela?

Chavez knocks Junior to the ground, at the UN, giving a rousing, anti-Shrub speech that receives commanding applause.

Is this whole drug thing a set up, so our govt can begin building a case against VZ and Chavez?

(Interesting that yesterday, an article came out about our government being displeased with VZ's lack of commitment to the 'war on drugs').

I smell concerted public relations effort.

11. Never thought of that. How Rovian.
But I have yet to hear an "official" news report on TV or Faux. If it was a set-up they would be crowing about it for sure. Also, kinda looks bad being sent to Iraq, where Americans would likely be implicated by suspicion(as was my 1st thought).

First a 'Chavez isn't with us in the Drugz War' and then a 10000lb(!!) shipment of coke 'from Venezuela'? Sure, uh-huh, nothing suspect about that at all, nope.

16. Going to Iraq from Venezuela, 'eh? That's strange, right after the
the arousing applaud that Hugo Chavez got at the UN. And right after the US said Venezuela couldn't be an allie on the "War on Drugs" anymore.

Sounds like something Rove is behind, 'eh?

23. Actually not that strange - drugs are usually transshipped all over
Edited on Sat Sep-17-05 01:56 AM by Zynx
It's not uncommon to see a dozen or two dozen different countries stamped on a shipment. This is done to hide suspicious countries of origin from US Customs inspection, by confusing the hell out of initial origin and gradually working it up into more and more reputable ports of call.

The drugs were probably eventually going to be shipped to a Western Country with a nice, safe name for the country of origin like Germany or Canada.
