I am still angry about the 1996 NH senate race between Bob Smith and Dick Swett. The networks, using VNS data, called the race for Swett almost right after the polls closed. All night long the actual returns shows Smith will a small lead, and the numbers held. The Swett surge never materialized, and the networks sheepishly called the race for Smith around 10:00. It was the only VNS screwup until the grand disaster of 2000. I think New Hampshire folks like to have some fun with the exit pollsters and I would warn abou that possibility.

2. Yes VNS was right in 2000 and right in 2002
That's why VNS is gone now because their 2002 data would have
exposed the BBV vote hack.

3. Exit polls are probably off a little tonight.
The turnout is too high.

4. I hope they're right
at least when it comes to those numbers showing overwhelming dislike and anger toward Bush.

5. On a side note
I was in the same theater group with Bob Smith Jr. at Boston College, so I've met the father many times. Even though he left the repub party because it wasn't conservative enough he's a really nice guy, which gives me hope for republicans.

His son, funny enough, did improv theater at BC and is now in ImprovBoston. And I thought republicans hated the arts...hahah!
