Blanco and people who want to go home...report last night
Listened to the reports via shortwave last night--United Broadcasters.

People are really anxious about getting back to their property because they're AFRAID THEY WILL BE BULLDOZED before they have a chance to pick through for any personal items that may have survived.

Blanco, visiting NOLA yesterday, said that she would personally stand in front of any bulldozer that tried it. She assure people that she would do everything she could to protect their property.

She also is trying to project a "unified front"--not bad mouthing Bush at this time...

1. Those people are justifiably worried.

The BushCo contractors are drooling to get in there with their bulldozers and start clearing the land that they will get for pennies on the dollar so they can start the Disneyification and Las Vegas-ification of New Orleans and its outskirts.
It will take a miracle to get any of the Diaspora to ever be allowed to return to their homes.

2. Wow!
Blanco will stand in front of the bulldozers and Mary Landrieu will punch the drivers in the nose!

I don't ever want to see another DUer refer to courage as something that shows "balls" again. Ever. Balls are what make men think strippers like them, not what gives them the courage to fight fascism. If we must have a metaphor, it should be BACKBONE and I know for a fact that when people are acting courageously they stand tall and straight and exhibit BACKBONE.

I'll go on a tirade about the use of the word "douchebag" later. :D

3. Applause...Applause!
Well said! I hope their "backbone" isn't broken by the powers that be! They ARE coming in on Monday or Tuesday for another photo-op, aren't they?

4. Rosa Parks, Cindy Sheehan, and millions of unheralded women.
No balls--just spines. And probably even people in wheelchairs stiffen their spines when they stand up to power, too.

7. As one of the female persuasion guilty of using "cajones," I thank you
for a perfect alternative.

It's always good to tidy up one's lexicon--thanks for a perfect suggestion.
