You won't believe what this little fundie child told my sister.
She received this from her mom, so I don't blame the kid for just repeating what she'd heard. She's only 7, so she's not quite opinionated. My sister however, going on 9, would have none of it.

This mother told her daughter that some people in New Orleans follow Satan. I can't believe it. Just because this woman is the Minister of Liturgy for the "house church " and thinks she knows it all and because, at a time of the year, girls bare their breasts, like in other cities in the world, NEW ORLEANS DID NOT FOLLOW SATAN!

What a warped worldview.

2. Satan doesn't go to New Orleans
He's too afraid of the Loa to go there. That's their territory.

9. I don't agree.
But I am a Catholic. I'm looking into converting, when I'm a little older, to the UCC. It seems to fit me a little better.

However, I don't believe that Satan's a stupid concept. It's just how people exploit it.

who believe satan is a saint.
their a christian sect -- but it goes to show a different opinion.

i can't believe that any christian wouldn't have a problem with satan -- why would god create a competitor?

and once you start thinking about ''all knowing'' -- it gets really flimsy.

btw -- i'm a christian.

12. And that shows her mom's greater ignorance.
Practioners of Vodun don't follow or even worship Satan. The Loa are ancient African gods, some tied into the Catholic saints. I am sure there are a few who do worship Satan, but it would be pretty rare.

church choir events as a teenager. There are lots of devout churchgoers in New Orleans. What nonsense. How sad. How ignorant.

and it was on a Sunday in the Superdome and everybody who had come to see LSU and Oklahoma filled the Church in their game-going clothes.

24. I was raised as a Catholic too. Most Catholics aren't as rabid
as these people. However I have a slew of Catholic relatives and friends who are shrub supporters on the abortion issue. These people have been in my face for years and my response has been to leave the Church entirely.

25. I had little Catholic friends tell me that when I was little.
So I asked my mom if it was true. She blew it off with a casual "Oh, WE don't believe that" and I never worried about it again. In fact, that was when I began to feel sorry for my Catholic friends, and the fear they were forced to live with.

18. My minister kicks ass
The minister of my episcopal church here in the Santa Clarita Valley used her Sunday sermon to discuss the hurricane and when she talked about rarely watching the news (said she stopped during the Vietnam War), she mentioned she was drawn to CNN during the aftermath of the hurricane. She quickly shut it off after hearing a story about God's wrath against a sinful city. She said all cities were sinful because that is where people live and we are all sinners. She's awesome.
