Sitting in American Government today

it occurs to me that the conservative right wing wants a dictator. They don't want a president, they don't want a democracy, they want a unitary dictator who presides over all things moral. They don't really care about the issues - health care, social security, economy - America would be a paradise if only we had a stong arm of morals to enfore all of their values - Chrisitan of course.

My prof showed two graphs today, the result of a few polls done - about 65-70 % of Americans believe that the Federal Gov't is too powerful but the second poll showed that about the same percent, if not more - wanted their government to uphold morals and values more than they wanted a protection of rights. Someone please explain to me why you would give a government that is too powerful more control over morals? The right doesn't want a president - they want a Pope. It just baffles me.

And anyone who thinks they wouldn't appoint King George if they thought they could get away with it isn't paying attention. They want the haves and the serfs. Guess where you fit in.
