locked in and loaded into the Stadium. Bush communes with his base and refreshes ties. Now they can wink and nod at each other because apparently the "black people" don't know what to do in a crisis and cannot be trusted.

Nice bait & switch buddy!

Does this have anything to do with what Nials Ferguson wrote in Colossus? That AAs would see that the best thing for them to do would be to emigrate from America?

My you are one efficient little

ASSHOLE!

We keep saying you stood down and did nothing.. but you accomplished a whole lot. You were busy as a bee creating a vacuum. Finding scapegoats. Terrorizing people. This started as a hurricane and you have ratcheted it up to be worse than 9/11. Obviously there was not enough fear left in America for your liking.

FUCK YOU!

3. New NeoCon talking point
The Hurricane was started by a Dutch communist name Marinus Van Der Lubbe.

Google it, if the name doesn't ring a bell.

4. It is better to be feared than to be loved.
I think Machiavelli said that. Maybe Bush & Co. no longer want us to fear outsiders. Maybe now it is time for us to fear them.

8. The Right Wing's goal has always been ...
... - implicitly or not - to have us fear each other. A country of folks who despise and scapegoat each other at the bottom of the food chain, will take the focus off those at the top of the food chain ... because they know they are ridiculously outnumbered and the only way to stay in their lofty positions is to keep 'us' at each others' throats.

12. The have littles against the have nots.
That's the summary of what you said.

But I'm beginning to wonder if they want us fearing the U.S. Government.

5. Where Can I Join 'Em?
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 06:08 AM by mntleo2
I am not making this up. I would like to join in with the hell raising by the poor. I am glad that the hurricane has put American poverty out on the forefront, but I have been mad as hell for awhile now. I have been speaking and writing about poverty for years and nobody wanted to hear about it. I will never forget the torches and pitchfork brigades who lined up during Welfare Reform to demonize the poor while their pockets were getting slyly picked far cleaner that any welfare queen could have done, even if she was fictional.

Meanwhile the REAL demons, entities like Enron, continued to pretend they were adding to sn economic boom while jacking up the prices and laughing all the way to the bank. Why not blame a low income mom who is working her ass off just trying to survive so that the real welfare queens could parade around disguised in suits? Even for progressives, when you pointed these things out to them, they said that things would magically work out because the economy was booming. Booming for whom? Not for low income people, who continued to struggle and work for nothing for psychotic greedheads as wages stayed stagnant and prices for everything, especially housing, skyrocketed.

Tell me where to go, I would like to meet with a few angry poor down there and begin to plan for a not-so-nice democratic overthrow of some tightwad, right wing religious wing nut slave drivers. In "Soul On Ice" I remember reading something Eldredge Cleaver wrote along the lines that if you really want change to happen, forget trying to change it through the System, it was just a big runaround that got nowhere. He said that the only way to get something done and some attention toward the screaming needs, was to "burn Baby burn!" I remember being horrified as a young adult reading that, but as I have grown older, I have come to believe that maybe he was right.

Frankly, even though I am a peace loving Christian I am sad to admit this but....as an older white woman who has seen her share of myopic institutionalized cruelty, please just once, I want to see the incredulous horror on some elitist prick's face when they reap karma for what they have been doing to their "servants" for decades now in the name of Jeeezus. It would do me good because I am beyond fury at all the work being done "legitimately" through the bureaucracy that has to this point, only resulted in more misery and death for the poor...."

My 2 cents

9. Welcome to DU, mntleo2

I think I love you. Of course, I love most all DU'ers. Allow me a bit of a ramble here, eh?

The system: If you are an outsider, the system ignores you. You have to get your hands dirty whilst breaking into the system but then you can wreak havoc on it from inside. Of course your enemies will try to destroy you, but what the hell, they are enemies, so lets fight them, eh?

The poor are outsiders only because they allow themselves no access. And the pukes want to deny access to the system. Poor folks need to realize they can get inside by using democratic keys to the doors.

Poor people need to go to local government meetings, get involved with decisions that are made daily and make change happen. It's called democracy.

Always remember this: We outnumber them.

6. Use 'chaos', please, not 'anarchy'
Anarchy doesn't mean 'out of control', it means 'out of their control'.

called JAIL.

No country in the world and no other US state has a higher incarceration rate.
