11. Hope they are finally released, We need some accountability and
justice, but we won't get it until regular janes and joes are aware that they should be outraged.

4. OK so this is a circle jerk
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 02:34 PM by endarkenment
I just found the aclu link to the court order from yesterday. basically this just repeats the previous order, setting a new deadline for the DOD to comply. The DOD will once again run the clock out and then enter a new appeal.

:wtf:

basically the rule of law has ended here.

Oh - here is the link: http://www.aclu.org/torturefoia/SignedOrder_081804.pdf

6. No, yesterday was the ruling on whether the arguments
would be public.

The government not only wanted the pictures sealed, it wanted its arguments for sealing the pictures sealed.

The judge ruled that the arguments will be public.

10. So let me understand this.
They want to pursue rulings about the arguments about the need to seal the pictures and those arguments for sealing?

Man, and I thought the BushBots hated this kind of "lawyering"

9. Our new Attorney General earns his 30 pieces of silver.
From the link at Raw Story:
START
"The government's recent actions make a mockery of the Freedom of Information Act,” said Romero. “The Defense Department has long dragged its heels on coming clean about the systematic and widespread abuse of detainees, but denying the public the right to even hear its legal arguments for withholding information is a new low."

On August 2, Representative Henry Waxman (D-CA) issued a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales explaining the FOIA statute and the concern for the State’s attempt to interpret the law and misapply it toward government secrecy:

Unprecedented use of FOIA statute

"The FOIA exemption was designed to provide a basis for protecting the identity of confidential sources," wrote Waxman. Unprecedented use of FOIA statute.

The FOIA statute being used by the DOD to seal the abuse documents as well as the reasons for the sealing has never before been used by a government agency as a means by which to classify government misdoings."END

The not so speedy Gonzales drags his feet some more.

12. Bottom line is
your *gub'mint doesn't want YOU to see the the reality of the ATROCITY being committed in YOUR names. So long as they can keep you in the dark and feed you dung like mushrooms, THEY WIN. (Or so goes their thinking).

There's a story in LBN about American troops holding children hostage in northern Iraq. WHO would believe a "tainted" Chinese source? My dearest ones until you comprehend what YOUR troops are being ordered to do, your preparation for what will return to your shores is NON-EXISTENT. American troops are being dehumanized by this debacle. They shoot at ANYTHING that moves and take out their frustrations in ways that would make the "Catholic priest scandal" look like a well-supervised Easter egg hunt. The "Arab street" knows it, Europe and Africa and Asia know it, see we're close enough in those 6 degrees of separation...

The *MIC is perpetrating another HOLOCAUST and EVERYONE knows it but you.

Thank your CM$M on your way out.
