Withdrawing my support for JFK
Sorry. I was willing to live with his IWR support and subsequent tapdancing on the subject, and his seeming lack of charisma. But between his attack ads against Clark & Dean and his latest gaffe of pissing off Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina, New Mexico, and Arizona, I just don't think this guy is up to the pressure of taking on the media machine.

He likely was at some point, but has become too Washingtonized. We are down to two candidates whom I can support with lots of time & money, and both are on life support (see my sig).... I had high hopes for November, but they are growing dim...

1. Doc, are you sure that's what you want to do?
If so, welcome to the Clark campaign. I hope you see fit to go donate today. Clark needs a little more moolah to make his goal.

Thanks for considering the General.

:-)

8. Hey, Doc, Edwards is definitely not on life support.
His contributions and volunteers are way up.

If he has a decent finish in NH (e.g., double digits), he keeps his momentum going. He will likely do well in several of the states on Feb. 2.

If the polls are influencing you, they shouldn't. The pollsters were WAY off in predicting Iowa.

several times. I have been on the Clark bandwagon since before he announced. I am of MM's mind that's he's a gift to our party, a man who can bring back the Southerners, the flag, the military, the media, and all manner of lapsed Dem while energizing and galvanizing the base.

Campaigning here in IL will start in earnest in a couple weeks, and if the General is still standing, I will be very busy.

However, if it comes down to a choice between Dean & JFK, I don't really care which way it comes out... How sad, huh?

14. He said:

"Everybody always makes the mistake of looking South," Kerry said, in response to a question about winning the region. "Al Gore proved he could have been president of the United States without winning one Southern state, including his own."

"I think the fight is all over this country," Kerry said. "Forget about those red and blue states. We're going to change that now, and we're going to go out there and change the face of America."

I guess panicing about how a northern Democrat will do in the south instead of being concerned about the country as a whole is bad.

24. Oh, god. The RW meme about Gore losing his home state.
But Kerry already lost me with the Skull and Bones meme "The world is a dangerous place."

4. every candidate is going to go through a "media wringer" ... we
all know this.

It comes down to who can stand up to it and at the same time energize the people to thier cause.

Hopefully...this attention "hardens" our nominee.

But he does. He said it quite awhile back. I remember hearing it.

18. Hey i started that thread! I meant it to.
Don't worry i'll still vote Democrat, I am not a moron. but i don't plan on actively campaigning him since he doesn't think he needs the south anyway. I will still register people to vote and all, but i will keep my Dean sticker on the car and I won't sit at a table for him, I won't go door to door, and I won't talk him up every chance I get.

ABK means that i will not actively campaign for him. I am ABB ten thousand times more than i am ABK. But I swear if I hear him plagiarize Dean one more time, i am donating money to Dean, Clark, and Edwards.

12. A Kerry backlash was
inevitable once he won Iowa. Especially to those who like other candidates. As a die-hard Kerry guy, I think he is doing well in his campaigning lately, but I am biased.

I don't know you Doc, but it seems like you never really supported him anyway.

If you want to talk gaffes, misstatements and retractions, boy are you barking up the wrong tree.

19. I should clarify
I have been for a Clark/Edwards ticket since last summer, but I felt energized thinking about JFK running - he was my thrid choice, and, I thought, a viable one. But those feelings have dissipated. DOn't know how to describe it exactly.

20. OMG
I just saw a FAUX News article referring to a Anyone But Kerry vote!

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,109459,00.html

Kerry's crowds have mostly been committed supporters, former backers of Gephardt and "leaners" who, until Iowa, were afraid they would waste their vote. Undecideds were turning out for other candidates, but not in numbers comparable to Edwards.

But the Massachusetts senator may have a problem winning converts because of the large "anybody but Kerry" vote that has developed in New Hampshire, benefiting Edwards.

Several top Dean aides told Fox News they thought there was a slight chance he would still win. If Dean doesn't at least come out in second place, his candidacy will be in trouble.

21. If those guys go to Edwards, more power to them
Edwards could use the support to give him a real stage to show his stuff. I'm for Kerry but would like to see Edwards do well. A Kerry/Edwards ticket would be great.

23. Stop treating the south like a foreign country
That's what he said yesterday. I think they'll appreciate that. This is a pretty sad reason to stop supporting a candidate, but whatever.
