I used to live in WV

I think the best thing that can be said for him is that he brought a LOT of federal dollars into the state

he's very conservative on social issues like abortion and gay rights

he's supported the coal industry but has been a good friend of the unions as well but has not been a friend of the environmental movement in the state

he's always been a small issue person--it was only in the past couple of years that he's become a big issue person like the Iraq war

if it wasn't for his speaking out against Bush, it's doubtful too many progressives would think too highly of him
