Rove is taking one for the team

He's done it before, he'll do it again.

He threw himself under the Bush Bus to protect his bossman and sugar-daddy. The DSM is the smoking gun which could/should bring down the entire presidency, but this "scandal du jour" from the White House will keep it off the front pages. At least, until Aruba Girl washes ashore, or a white schoolgirl falls down a well, or Poppy's CIA buddy's can arrange another bombing somewhere, "keeping the fight over there."

Rove is going nowhere. Even if he is fired, it will be for show only, and he'll be back at work the next day. Bush cannot function without the man. Rove will not face any punishment. But the rest of us will be subjected to some more hell before he gets himself off the hook.

And they'll file out, in lockstep, the team of Hughes and Matalin, to take his place, but he'll still be calling the shots -- unless he actually goes to Federal Prison. And, we all know the chances of that happening....

Joe Wilson told the truth and he had to be punished and discredited, and others had to be warned what would happen if they got in the way of the lovely war.
