Does it makes sense that Cheney doesn't know Wilson when:
Wilson was heavily involved in Iraq during Desert Storm when Cheney was Defense Secretary?

According to Cheney:

"Vice President Dick Cheney: No. I don't know Joe Wilson. I've never met Joe Wilson. A question had arisen. I'd heard a report that the Iraqis had been trying to acquire uranium in Africa, Niger in particular. I get a daily brief on my own each day before I meet with the president to go through the intel. And I ask lots of question. One of the questions I asked at that particular time about this, I said, "What do we know about this?" They take the question. He came back within a day or two and said, "This is all we know. There's a lot we don't know," end of statement. And Joe Wilson--I don't who sent Joe Wilson. He never submitted a report that I ever saw when he came back."

His tenure as SecDef:

"Richard B. Cheney
March 21, 1989- January 20, 1993
17th Secretary of Defense
Bush Administration"

Joe Wilson:

"What might Saddam do, in the event of war? On August 6, 1990, I met with Tariq Aziz, who told me that Iraq reserved the right to use any weapon in its arsenal if attacked. When I met with Saddam Hussein, he was vaguer, but said he was prepared to use everything if invaded.

Two things to keep in mind. First, Saddam is a classic survivalist. In his mind, as long as he survives, the nation-state of Iraq survives; the state is embodied in him. Second, Saddam wants to survive with weapons of mass destruction. He wants to continue his efforts to dominate the region. He would like to create one single Arab state under his leadership or at least dominate the Arab world."

Recall that Joe Wilson was the one responsible for harboring many civilians and protecting them from Saddam during Desert Storm.

So - does it make any sense at all that Dick Cheney doesn't know Joe Wilson?

1. Just like he never met John Edwards before their debate.
Cheney is the biggest liar of them all if you ask me.

6. They're mentioned in the same story from 1990
I found their names just a few sentences apart in a UPI story from 1990 that someone posted in a newsgroup at the time:

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/clari.news.hot.iraq/browse_thread/thread/205f3927e1786446/f17f820177c0eb07?q=%22joe+wilson%22+cheney&rnum=1&hl=en#f17f820177c0eb07

Aug 19 1990

Thirty-five Americans found shelter from the Iraqi roundup by hiding out in diplomatic headquarters, CBS News reported. "We're not going to allow our people to be just simply herded up like sheep and made to go places against their will without trying to help," said Joe Wilson IV, the U.S. charge d'Affaires in Baghdad.

The United States and Britain said they remained determined to enforce U.N. economic sanctions imposed against Iraq following its Aug. 2 invasion of tiny Kuwait. The U.N. Security Council voted Saturday to demand that Iraq allow foreigners to leave. The council's five permanent members met Sunday to consider stronger sanctions against Iraq.

Tere are an estimated 20,000 Westerners in Iraq and Kuwait, including approximately 3,000 Americans and 4,500 Britons.

Defense Secretary Dick Cheney, in Saudi Arabia touring military bases, told Pentagon pool reporters that U.S. warships were shadowing two Iraqi tankers that failed to stop Saturday when warning shots were fired across their bows.

I suppose it's possible they never met, but it does seem that Cheney must have known who he was.
