Andrea Mitchell: Attacks will clearly play to Bush's strength
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 12:46 PM by BeyondGeography
which is, of course, the importance of security and the war on terror.

She also said officials were "worried that the lack of attacks was leading to a certain complacency among the American population," suggesting that this was behind some "soft numbers" in *'s recent poll results.

On MSNBC just now. Here comes the whores...

21. Nicely said.
And that goes for all the right-wing MSM as well...the five corporations, (GE, Viacom, Disney, Mudoch & Time-Warner) who "own" ALL the "news".

3. haven't they learned anything yet?
Will Bush use this as an excuse to invade Iran because there are terrorists there?

*IF* he had a brain he would recoup our losses in Iraq and explain that we need to re-direct our resources. It would be a face-saver for him. But he's too stupid.

Like stepping stones across the quagmire that the Bush administration calls its record of accomplishments.

9. Well... you have to consider the source..
You were listening to Andrea Mitchell! ;)

Jamie Rubin did an awesome job this morning with the "O'Brien duo" on CNN.

They let him talk in length (several times) about how this serves to remind us that Bush & Blair should never have diverted attention of off Al Qaeda and onto Iraq in the first place.

Andrea Mitchell is in that certain category of journalists that will always twist the story (no matter what it is) to reflect well on Bush.

Jamie Rubin on the other hand (who has 100x more experience on the subject) ROCKS!

"worried that the lack of attacks was leading to a certain complacency among the American population,"

So it's a bad thing we haven't been hit? Whafu?

16. She did say "thank goodness"
about the lack of attacks...she was being very careful. But she did spin this as good political news for Shrub. There's no missing the suggestion, in Bush's comments today as well as Rice's just now, that the Administration is going to try to use this day to shore up their alliance with Britain and to justify their foreign policy choices.

Hopefully, Britain will ask exactly what they have gained by allying themselves with Bush. The hard questions will never be asked here by our media.

anyone but our enemy.

11. Well, I don't suppose Tony Blair will be using the Bush argument ...
"We're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here." (which is so bogus on the face of it).

Regarding Andrea Mitchell's statement, she recently made statements that Bush was still polling high in the "terrorism" category because "we haven't been attacked since 9/ll." So now, attacks in the capital of our principal ally "plays to his strength"?

So I guess Bush is going to reap the praise of the corpo-fascist media whatever the eventuality.

13. Does this shock anyone?
It doesn't shock me at all. I find it rather sick that someone has to depend on the slaughtering of others for a boost in poll numbers. That's exactly what she is saying and most people find that perfectly acceptable.

14. "worried that the lack of attacks"
So they want more attacks? More innocent lives lost.

So they can have their police state?

I wish I could say I couldn't believe it, but after five years I know better. :(

18. Yeah, if he could get us nuked, he could be elected god.
Certainly he has been able to turn his colossal failures to his advantage, but can he continue to win at the same game? Every bit of schtick gets old at some point, and every tactic wears thin eventually.

Will people still swallow the line that we need some iron-willed hornswoggler to protect us when every prediction he makes fails to come true and every analysis of the world situation that his staff makes is proven completely wrong?

Andrea would LOVE it if this made people love the warrior king as they did in days of yore, but saying it may not necessarily make it happen. This little nobody has overstayed his welcome.

25. Oh fuck of course
The "West" was getting soft on thinking that tying to kill them all wasn't working. It's not working but now we ARE MAD AS HELL anew and someone must pay, heh? Doesn't matter if it leads to thousands more deaths and they aren't the guilty ones..just keep the endless war fuel going. Let's torture some innocents..bomb the wrong country..allow piece of shit "leaders" a few more years when they have DONE NOTHING to make anyone any safer anywhere.

These are grim times. And I fear it will work in America, because I'm beginning to think we are the stupidest people on earth. Hell, count me as stupid I bought the Iraq war lies for awhile. I was afraid. I was used. I understand. I have more faith in the intelligence and courage of the Brits. I hope they reward my faith.

27. I think that a large portion of the population
will make a connection of this atrocity to 9/11 and at least in the short term that will lead to a increase in Bush's approval numbers.

The other evidence of Bush stupidity will be ignored and the GOP will play this like piano.

If Democrats point salient facts they will be accused of being against the troops (See Dick Durbin) or weak on defense or some other such non-sense.

You may think I am wrong but you watch.

The broad majority of the Nation just does not pay attention as closely as posters on the DU.

 :dem:
