Man do I feel sorry for Edwards, he's getting trounced in his own backyard.

Way to go Al! I never thought I'd see the day when Sharpton was actually looking like he might win-place-show in a primary.

I think that the recent poll is a death knell for Edwards' campaign, it's probably only a matter of time before he drops out. I say he's the next major candidate to go, probably shortly after he places 4 or 5th in SC.

2. Sharpton has passion
Sharpton, just like Dean, is able to energize voters. I'm not stunned at all that he's doing so well in SC.

And BOOOOO to you Ted Koppel, for having the audacity to tell Dennis, Carol, and Al to dropout before a single vote had been cast!

I guess this means that puky ABC News will have to send the embedded reporters back to the campaigns of the "vanity" candidates, as former Canadian Koppel described them during the Iowa debates.

Way to go, Al!

5. I'm proud of Al
He's come a LONG way since he first came into the national spotlight. He really has earned the right to be considered a legit candidate, and to have some early errors in his career to be forgotten.

Go Al!

6. I really doubt Edwards will get fourth or fifth.
And I also don't really see why it's such a great thing Sharpton does better. Why would you want someone who would clearly be a better candidate to do worse than somebody who has basically a voter-registration drive for a primary campaign?

7. Of course Edwards will finish 4 or 5th...
Dean wins, Clark gets second, Shapton gets third, and Edwards will at best get fourth, at worst 6th, behind Gephardt/Lieberman/Kerry.

Edwards isn't a better candidate than Sharpton. I'm very leery of Edwards and he's kow-towed to Bush one too many times.

9. at best 4th? I have to read all the polls for college and he wins at least
a 2/5ths of them. He was winning all of them a few months ago, but he still has plenty of support there.

He defenitly won't finish behind Gephardt or Leiberman, especially gephardt.

I'm trying to be nice, but what electoral votes other than DC would Sharpton win? A politician and a candidate are 2 different things, if you are closer to Sharpton politically, and like him better personally, it doesn't negate the fact he is unelectable.

13. I'm talking about SC alone, not the whole primary season
I'm not sure he won't finish behind Gephardt or Lieberman, both are only 4 points behind and they might make a comeback. Edwards is going nowhere fast in SC. He's certainly not going to get above third, even under the best circumstances.

Electablility is not the issue here, I could argue that Edwards is unelectable in many Northeastern and Western Democratic strongholds, and thus is unelectable in the end.

Really, if you can't even manage to win your backyard state, how can you win an election? It's the same problem I have with Kerry, he's really losing bad in NH, which is also a backyard state for him.

Electability shouldn't be the main issue of selecting our candidates.

I'd vote for Sharpton before I'd vote for Edwards, but that has a lot to do with IWR and Edwards recent lackluster performance in Washington.

8. What does this poll mean?
It means absolutely nothing. The poster just really seems afraid of what will happen when Edwards wins South Carolina.

The polls don't mean much right now, and I can point you to any number of polls which show Edwards leading in South Carolina.

10. 2 things
you are also afraid of what happens if he doesn't win SC. And those polls you are talking about seem to be in Edwards HQ only. They remind me of the polls showing Gray Davis at 50%.

14. Actually...
I'm more upset at the media (and many people around here) trying to claim the election is over, and anointing a candidate already.

I'm waiting until the votes are cast, and until then I'll continue to support my candidate.

16. The "Awareness" and "Favorable/Unfavorable" data tell a completely
different story within this same poll for Sharpton and Edwards (and probably for other candidates). Did you take a look at them?

Let's let the voters in Iowa, New Hampshire, SC and elsewhere--not the media and not the pollsters-- tell us who they want.
