Question about O'REILLY clip with GEN. CLARK
In his interview with General Clark (in which Clark beat him to a bloody pulp, I just have to say), that pompous ass Bill O'Reilly claimed that Germany and France's ecomonies are about to collapse and the countries are filled with anti-American sentiment. I've scanned the internet and can't find any evidence of that. Is it true?

1. Check the Paris Business Review
or whatever that phony paper is that O'Reilly invented to pretend no one was buying French wine anymore.

3. LOL! Good point.
It just makes me so sick to see that smug look on his face while he rattles off all the problems in the world because people aren't going along with Bush's mess. He's such an ass. I wanted to make sure he wasn't right.

that hereosexual marriage is ON THE BRINK OF EXTINCTION ever since Gay Marriage became legal in Sweden.

(no such study, and gay marriage is not even legal there. Franken played this clip!)

6. One thing he is right about is that Chirac and Schroeder aren't
popular. But the average French family (I know from experience) has twice as much in the bank as the average American family, albeit they've decided to live in smaller homes and drive smaller cars. But it was a decision.

8. It's a bunch of hooey anyway
any time French wine goes on sale, it flies off the shelves. Not just in Seattle (where I live) - I witnessed this in North Carolina this spring, also. I went back to Ingles one day to get a bottle of French wine that had been on sale the day before, and every single bottle was gone.

10. How much do you want to bet Clark will never be on O'Reilly's
show again?

Clark made O'Reilly look like a complete idiot, (I wonder what was discussed during the commercial break...)

O'Reilly, being nothing but a pompous windbag, could not come up w/anything that made sense, while Clark stuck to the issues presented.

If Clark is in the "No Spin Zone" again, it will be because O'Reilly was forced to have him on.

14. O'Reilly, Hannity and Limbaugh...none of them are intellectually capable
of dealing w/Clark. Clark uses facts, the pundits just blow smoke out their butts.

Remember when Clark jumped on the one 'reporter' for "putting words in my mouth"? Clark would not be a good person to tick off; he was polite and genial w/O'Reilly, but I got the distinct impression that he was just toying w/O'Reilly since it was O'Reilly's show. If Clark let loose, O'Reilly would have gone back inder the rock he dwells under when not on the screen.

Truth is a burden that these pundits, posing as Journalists, are scared to death of.

12. Great minds... and all that...
I was thinking the same thing today.

Makes you wonder, but O"Reilly's arrogant enough to think he can "take" Wes at some point. Should be interesting.

13. What was Clark's response to this?
Did he ask O'Lielly to back that up?

18. Clark had to choose which of O'Lielly's lies to refute
Edited on Thu Jun-30-05 09:24 PM by tishaLA
That was not one of them. He had Billy dancing as fast as he could, anyhow. He stayed focused instead on issues of foreign affairs and the military, which is probably a better tactic than defending foreign economies.

16. Its an exaggeration, but there is some truth to it.
I don't know if Francy and Germany's economies are about to collapse, but they are both in VERY poor shape. GDP growth in both countries has been extremely anemic over the past decade or two. They're having a hard time registering growth over the 1-2% range.

More importantly, they both have persistently high unemployment rates -- I'm talking over 10%. If you're interested in more information go here:

http://news.google.com

and do a search for "Germany unemployment" or "France unemployment".

17. Their deficit vs. ours
Germany - 3.7%
France - 3.6%
U.S. - 6.4%

Glass houses, huh!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/2909217.stm
<snip>
France, the eurozone's second biggest economy, had a public deficit of 3.1% in 2002 and the Commission's provisional forecasts see it rising to 3.7% this year and 3.6% in 2004.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000100&sid=aGBijkcDFL2w&refer=germany
<snip>
The German budget deficit is again forecast to reach 3.7 percent of gross domestic product this year, the same as in 2004, Eichel told a news conference in Berlin today

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4104466.st<snip>
The current account deficit now accounts for 6.4% of US gross domestic product, a level many economists say is too high.
